A group of us called in for lunch and we're pleasantly surprised at how good the food and service was. I was impressed with the variety of specials on offer. My partner had the burger with added bacon which when it arrived had loads of sides and was fab. I had steak which was lovely. The rest of the group... More

This is an honest review and I have never had to write a poor reveiw before. We visited as a family of 8 and had starters and mains, my son had a steak and he found two hairs in his chips - I called the waiter over and spoke to him very discreetly and showed him the 2 hairs that... More

Despite reading poor reviews on here I wanted to try it for myself as it had been recommended to us in the past. We went here today for Sunday lunch l booked our table just over a week ago, our table was ready for us and we were greeted very politely, very friendly professional service delicious roast beef dinner, superb... If you're out for a drive and you come across this pub... just keep on driving past, the food is overpriced for the quality, there is service with bad attitude and many people were sending their meals back... and the worst thing is they don't even care!

Food was ok. They had a pensioners menu which was reasonably priced. For pudding I had a lovely profiterole cake and my husband had a Christmas pudding. VERY cold in the restaurant. Didn't seem any heating on. Felt sorry for the staff they were cold too. Didn't linger. Staff very good.

We arrived last night for our annual xmas dinner. We have been coming for the past 4-5 years and have never been disappointed. Unfortunately, not this time. There were plenty of tables available which made us think, whats wrong. Usually, you cannot get a booking here. The meal was ok, but not up to its usual standard. possibly as its... More

Have been coming for lunch at this county pub for over 30 years and never a complaint about the food, service or hospitality ................until Sunday 18th December. But never fear the problem (breaded mushrooms not properly cooked) was dealt with swiftly and without fuss and we continue to enjoy our visits.

We arrived mid-Sunday afternoon with no reservation but there were tables available. A rather surly reception at first but when we sat at a table in the middle of the room one of the waiters suggested we could sit on a table for 4 by the heater - great for my partner! The range of dishes were numerous as well... More

We booked a party of thirteen in for Sunday lunch but on arrival found no table reserved for us in the restaurant. We were directed to the bar where we found some tables free but our party had to be split into different parts of the bar. Bar service was particularly poor with many of us waiting up to fifteen...
