Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The four of us enjoyed our meal but the real stand-out was that they went out of their way to accommodate one of our group who has a dairy and gluten intolerance. Peter and the chef highlighted the options on a special copy of a...menu for her and then created a unique dessert for her consisting of a dairy free panna cotta, fruit sorbet and pineapple flambe pieces beautifully presented. A great place to go that people with allergies should be confident to visit knowing you are in good hands.More

Was sad when The Redwing shut and this is the first visit since reopening and we were not disappointed. We went for Sunday lunch and the roasts served were fabulous. Perfectly cooked beef and lamb accompanied by masses of veg and wonderful gravy. Well priced...wine list and well kept beer together with friendly service. We’ll be back!More

I celebrated my 80th with my family at the Redwing and couldn’t fault it. The steak on a stone was delicious as were the other meals. Friendly welcome, lovely staff. Thanks Redwing for making my day.

Had been going to Redwing for 'nice' meal for several years but not visited since under new management. Thought it was time to give it a go. Surprised to get a table for Friday night so easily. On arrival, bar area was busy and we...greeted by friendly face behind the bar. Menu online wasn't very inspiring but what a difference to the actual menu. Hard to decide what to have. So we started with poached pear, blue cheese and walnuts (excellent). Also had beetroot hummus, olives and bread (and extra bread) to share. Our mains were, fish of the day (sea bream), chicken and both rump and sirloin steak (had option at cook it yourself at the table). Unfortunately too full for dessert!! Waitress was very helpful and friendly and was really appreciative of our praise at the end of the night. Waitor who delivered the food was very concerned as plates were hot. Overall the evening surpassed our expectations. Food was excellent, staff did everything we needed them to do and prices very reasonable for quality of the food. Well done to chefs in the kitchen for producing such wonderful food. One comment from our regular visitor to area "best meal she'd ever had down here". Will certainly be back soon.More

We stopped at the Redwing for Sunday lunch. Best we ever tasted. Lots of meat and plenty of veg too. Our pudding, the white chocolate cheesecake looked and tasted amazing. The staff were very welcoming and the atmosphere was good too.

We went with friends for the £15 curry and a drink deal. We all had the chicken katsu curry, it was fabulous, really tasty, a good sized portion and nicely presented. My partner has been there for the madras curry a few weeks ago and...said it was also a good tasting dish. Well done Redwing!More

We both had the open steak sandwich with garlic and horseradish mayo. It wasn't cheap but was worth every penny. It was delicious and we would certainly recommend others to try it for a lunchtime treat. The default was a medium-rare steak but they were...quite happy to create a well-done version for my wife as she prefers it cooked that way.More

Trying out all the local pubs, the Redwing is up (food-wise) there with the best based on our Sunday lunch. A great reward after cycling 15 miles. Nicely presented, extremely tasty and good service, also fairly priced. We scored it 9/10 and would go back.

First time back to the Redwing for many years, called in as tried parking close to a restaurant anywhere in Exmouth as it was pouring with rain and there was nowhere with easy access. Arrived at Redwing, easy parking, lovely welcoming cosy atmosphere, lovely staff,...delicious food and drink and didn’t feel ripped off! Will be back.More

Starting off with olives, bread, and butter, a generous portion that sets the perfect tone. The main, a sizzling steak on a hot stone, letting you cook it just right. Alongside, you've got chunky chips crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, tomato, mushroom...and peppercorn sauce for a flavour boost. The garlic and tomato butter tied everything in, making each bite a delight. Simple, yet so full of tasty details!More

Had the most delicious parsnip soup with Parma ham sprinkles for lunch. Seriously tasty and filling, I devoured it before even thinking about taking a photo. Hats off to the chef! Loved every bite!

We went for dinner on the reopening of the kitchen and had a fabulous evening! We had steaks on hot rocks which were so gorgeous - the steak was literally melt in the mouth! Lovely ambience, with lots of people enjoying themselves, but despite being...busy the service was top notch and we were looked after by the charming staff. We really enjoyed ourselves and will of course be returning! Thank you!More

What happens when you have a full restaurant and you only have one chef? You delight your customers regardless because the waiting staff let the customers know that, keep the tables clear and the drinks flowing and the food just knocks their socks off. Christmas...menu - fantastic value and quality food. The Pork dish was the best I’ve tasted. Staff attentive, friendly and the Chef talented. Atmosphere convivial. Service well timed. Will definitely be back (if we can get a table once word is out!)More

Definitely in the bar (they're always well behaved), but I've never seen a dog in the main restaurant.
