Let me preface this review by saying I am a huge foodie, from the cities, and have high standards for dining out. LOVED this place! Atmosphere and service: We went around 5 for an early dinner, and it was surprisingly fairly hoppin, for a weeknight in the winter. Atmosphere was clean and comfortable, and I love the "woodsy" feel. Simple,... More

Eat here on a regular basis. Moderately priced, exceptional food, friendly service. Dave and his crew are always welcoming. This is one of our favorite eating establishments in the lakes area

We are always pleased with our food and service at Black Bear - one of our favorites! This has been a favorite of ours for many years - they have had a very good brunch on Sundays which our family enjoyed!

Service is on par with A little beyond entry-level servers. I ate ribs although I was tempted to have a steak. They were tasty and tender. My business partner ordered a steak and gave me a taste. It was well prepared and tasty. The server kept forgetting a condiment and it took a few times of passing by to actually... More

Both the bar and dining areas of this restaurant have an "up north" log cabin look. The service is pleasant and the good is good, but not cheap. I had a large walleye sandwich ($13.99). I asked for fruit instead of chips and this cost another $2.00. Also, the walleye was large, too large for the bun. I ditched the... More

All I wanted to do was grab a bite to eat and watch Game 1 of the World Series. What I got was so much better...wings, really, really, really good wings. Fried. Sauced. Grilled. Delicious. I had them Buffalo style and so should you.

We stopped here for dinner last Saturday night with friends. I liked the overall look of the restaurant ....the bears when you walk in, the huge fireplace, cozy booths. Could probably use a little refreshing. Our server was friendly, the food was good....we just had burgers and sandwiches. Probably would come back and try some other entrees. Overall, a good... This is where the locals hang. Lodge atmosphere. Eleven beers on tap. The staff is friendly enough. Worth a stop to see the lodge architecture and decor. Clean enough for us.

We visit the area each year for two weeks and we eat almost daily at THE BEAR. We eat there for two reasons: First, the food and service are fantastic! Second, they hae a gluten free menu that is quite extensive. Just a great place to dine and relax. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable. We got to know Charlie,... More

While in Baxter recently we decided on the Black Bear Saloon for dinner. We had a drink in the bar prior to being seated for dinner. Shannon, the bartender was very friendly and provided prompt service. We decided on an appetizer at the bar – Bruschetta. It was good – especially the pile of roasted garlic cloves. A nice addition... More
