Foods are derived from traditional Indian and Nepalese cuisine where the dishes are cooked in the authentic style of India and Nepal. We have lived in Wootton for over 5 years now and travel to kempston weekly . This Gurkha restaurant is the best Asian food around by far , we have brought many family and friends here and they all say the same thing it’s the best they’ve ever had , really nowhere else compares to the food quality and flavours of the food here .this restaurant is a must fabulous food , fabulous staff and service well done diya royal !!!!!

A must go to restaurant for excellent food and service.

I work all around the UK and have had many a curry while on my travels. This restaurant is by far the best I have visited. I had a paneer chilli, this was a sweet and sour cheese dish with mixed peppers. Panner cheese was perfectly cooked and absolutly lovely. For the main I had bhuteko masu which is a lamb dish cooked Napealese village style, the sauce was thick and very flavoursome and the generous portions of meat were so soft that I only used my fork for the whole meal. Some may think that the meat pieces were small, on the contrary they needed splitting with my fork. Garlic fried rice and a peshawari naan were also cooked to perfection. The staff at the restaurant deserve a mention, they are professional, helpful and very friendly and prompt. Unfortunately I did not get to meet the kitchen staff but they deserve as much, if not more praise for their excellent culinary skills. 10 out of 10 gents, I will be back

I had never dined at Diya Royal before but had always wanted to give it a try after reading alot of positive reviews about the the overall dinning experience offered. When my friend suggested booking a table I jumped at the chance. Some people think Diya Royal is mainly Indian cuisine, this is not true, Diya Royal is Nepalese cuisine which is influenced by Tibetan, Indian, Chinese and other parts of Asia. We had a table booked for 8.30pm and on our arrival we were given a warm and friendly welcome from all the staff and were seated promptly even though we were 10 minutes early. The restaurant was very busy and had a healthy, vibrant atmosphere which is always a good sign. We both ordered a starter, my friend ordered the Nepalese style sweet and sour chilli chicken with peppers, the balance of chilli, sweet and sour flavours was perfect, which in my opinion was excellent and I highly recommend you try. I ordered the Fish Sunkoshi which was freshly marinated deep-fried crispy tilapia served with green chutney. The fish was cooked perfectly and the dish as a whole was full of flavour and tasted delicious, the green chutney really lifted the dish and gave it a freshness. For our main course we ordered the Nepalese special fried rice between us and the Piro lamb, which was Spicy Nepalese lamb tikka curry with fresh green chili, garlic coriander and mixed peppers. I ordered the Saag Jhinga, which was a freshly prepared tiger prawn curry with fresh baby spinach leaves – Gurkha style. This was accompanied with Paratha's, which I can only describe as a cross between puff pasty and a flatbread. I would have been happy just to have three or four Paratha's just to dunk into my curry sauce!!!! An amazing culinary experience with a great variety of Nepalese cuisine to choose from at a reasonable price. I will definitely be back for a seconds.....and you should be too!!!!!

Failed to deliver and no refund

Ordered a delivery, estimated for 55 min but waited 95 min. Items missing from order and when advised was told I get a credit for next time. It may be a nice place to go for meal as any issues can be resolved before payment but wouldn't recommend ordering a delivery because any mistakes will not be compensated for.

We go to this resturant quite alot and get takeaways and the food is always amazing. But we went last night for dinner at 8pm it was so hot in the resturant it made it unbearable to sit and eat dinner. We asked for a window to be opened and the waiter opened it then closed it again. We asked again for it to be opened. So we ended up putting half our food in takeaway boxes and paid the bill and left. Abit of air conditioning would be recommended for the summer time. We will have to use this resturant in the winter only. Felt like we had a wasted night out.

Mid week curry with mates

We try and get out every now and then and experience a different curry house. 6 of went last night and were not disappointed. Awesome food, attentive staff and a nice atmosphere The food was clearly extremely fresh, wasn’t the fastest to come out but that’s because they creating it from scratch. Fantastic Food and best customer service

We went with family about 5 weeks ago and have been back a further 3 times. It's unusual for the 3 of us to all like the same restaurant but that all changed when we visited. We all love the food and we are made to feel very welcome with great customer service. We are going tonight with a party of 9 and really looking forward to it. Had a fantastic curry night with friends who love curry but struggle to find good quality near them in north Cumbria They confirmed they have nothing like Dyia We started with a massive spread - mixed grill, mogo, and chilli paneer - so delicious we barely had room for the mains! We shared noodles fish and vegi & keema Punjabi with rice and tandoori roti, but ended up taking about a third home because there was just so much food. Great service and a warm welcome too, thanks!

Possibly the best Asian restaurant in the Bedford area

You know when you try out a restaurant for the first time and you're SO impressed that you have to go back to check if it really was that good? Well tonight was my second visit and, yes, I was right… it really is that good. A lovely warm atmosphere, exemplary service, friendly staff and, above all, some of the best Asian food I have ever tasted. I can certainly feel a third visit coming on before too long.

Heavenly take away

We've tried so many dishes delivered to us hot and fresh. Tonight's choice didn't let us down. I had 2 starters as I didn't want a full meal I had chicken tikka which I thought came with salad? Never mind. And prawns huge ones in a deep fried batter. Husband had a curry and pilau rice which was full of flavour and fresh. I'll definitely order this again. Thank you for every meal always fresh hot and delicious. Best in Bedford

Relaxing and a beautiful visit

After visiting this restaurant, I will say it the establishment is very clean and inviting. The eating area is well set out and cosy. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The table layout is well spaced out. Menu is fantastic with an array of dishes and layed out well. After ordering our food, the time it took to the table was quick. Food tasted amazing and well presented. I highly recommend anyone to try this restaurant if your local or tourists. Well done to the staff for making our night memorable. Thank you for the free complimentary drinks and the cobra pint glass.

Flawless service and exceptional food

This was our first visit to Diya Royal...'Royal' in every sense of the word. The lady serving had such a welcoming, genuine and lovely smile. She tailored my order to my palette with no hesitation - I ordered a Biryani and a Peshwari Nan to take home. I can honestly say and believe me I have had many meals in Indian Restaurants and takeaways in Bedford since, 1997 - this topped it hands down. The freshest, succulent Chicken pieces perfectly flavoured in a generous size portion of the most colourfully presented fluffy rice. The sauce accompanying the dish was delightful with the soft pillows of potato. The Peshwari Nan sealed the deal for which was a thoroughly delicious meal.

Superb food and service

I had the pleasure of dining in Diya Royal last weekend with a group of friends. The restaurant is cosy and exceptionally clean. The table was immaculate with gleaming glasses and cutlery. The staff were so friendly and the service throughout was exceptional. The food was out of this world. It was faultless. You could taste every mouthful of the freshly made dishes. I started with onion bhaji's and the texture and flavour were perfect. My main was a lamb shank in curry sauce. It was superbly well cooked and the meat fell off the bone. The curry sauce was glorious and you could taste each and every spice. Our entire group loved the meal and the restaurant was packed with happy faces. I would highly recommend this hidden gem. I enjoyed it so much I ordered a take away the following day. This too was excellent and the portion sizes were incredible.

Absolutely delicious meal out early on a Sunday evening with our two young kids. Food and service was spot on. We eat a lot of different food and cuisines and this is one of the best meals out we've had in years. Even better is its only half a mile from home! Well done DR!
