Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Originally we were booked in for Saturday night but had to leave a day early, however, the boss was very accommodating and changed our booking to the Friday. Have been here before but not for a few years. We remember it being a lively local...as well as a great place to eat. We opted for food from the Specials board, I had a Pheasant Crown my wife had a very generous Fillet of Pollock. Both were very well cooked and presented. We also had deserts and my wife commented on how her Apple & Cinnamon Crumble was the best she’d ever had. I had the generous cheeseboard which was naughty but nice. The young staff were really helpful and attentive without being overly so. I noted some recent reviews that suggested it was just another ‘Gastro Pub’. Yes it is but it does Gastro really well. Would definitely visit again.More

Quite simply superb food, beautifully presented in unpretentious surroundings. A little off the beaten track, it is obviously popular and booking is a must. The food was perfectly cooked, we were not rushed in any way and the staff had the right level of attentiveness....If you are looking for a really good meal that is value for money it is worth a visit.More

An excellent Saturday lunch in a traditional pub with a logburner and friendly helpful staff. And its also very dog friendly. We will book next time ie next month, and the great garden will be perfect for next Spring and Summer.

A lovely range of food on the menu, big portions, friendly attentive service, and some solid gluten free options. There was a seasonal fruit crumble for pudding which was gluten free and absolutely fantastic. It’s a couple of minutes outside the town but feels like...you are deep in the countryside. A strong recommendMore

This is a great pub with great staff and the food was excellent. I had the steak and ale pie which was to die for, could not manage a sweet. Getting to the pub was an interesting time going round tiny turns in the village...but well worth it. The pub has a big car park and a large garden. Great placeMore

After reading the reviews myself and my mum came to try the special lasagne and it was delicious! £17 for a giant plateful of home made food, seasoned well, piping hot and the only downside was that we had no room for the puddings which...sounded equally scrummy. We have decided to come back asap for those, the pub is set in a picturesque spot, very clean inside and all the staff were so welcoming, we will be back to try more soon 🦄More

Pre dinner drinks in the sunny garden with great views over the estuary followed by a delicious meal. It was a last minute booking and we were given a cosy table inside the pub- homemade beef lasagne was great (love the retro enamel dish!) and...the homemade signature steak pie delicious. Staff very welcoming and attentive which makes for a cosy and friendly atmosphere.More

If you are staying in the Bideford/Instow area please pop in. It is blessed with an outdoor seating area that offers great views. The pub indoors is cosy. It is dog friendly. It also has a children's play area. The menu offers traditional pub food...as well as specials. Something for everyone. Even the dogs benefited from a sausage each. The staff are really friendly. The service was prompt and attentive.More

5 of us went for dinner to night. 2 had the halloumi and beetroot burger that they enjoyed. But 3 of us had the fish pie as it was recommended to us. This was a poor choice as the fish had no taste. It was...more mash and peas. Very disappointed.More

been to the westleigh Inn many times tonight's experience not so great, it would seem most of the staff have changed including the chef as the food has gone down hill very disapointed.
