We went to the Nelson Cabrera Spotlight dinner at the Rookery, and it was a great experience. It was really fun watching Nelson and a couple other chefs put together plates right in front of us. The courses are unusual and delicious, and to end the meal there was a "tart fruit" course which followed a special African fruit which... More

Great experience, we had seats right up front watching the action in the kitchen. All the food was amazing. Very good portions, we were both full by the end of the night. The salmon was my favorite!

My 2nd time here and it did not disappoint. In fact, it was even better than the last time. It would be impossible to leave without feeling full and completely satisfied (unless you are a picky eater and are not adventurous). I'm not a big fan of mushrooms seafood - but both times I went into it with an open... More

Went with 3 friends for dinner. There are 2 seatings for a fixed 20-course menu, although they will do substitutions for special needs (i.e., vegetarian). The courses are very small, but every one DELICIOUS! We were all full after 20! Wait staff is animated and fun. They are knowledgeable about the food. Its a bit expensive, but worth it. Nothing... We had a blast doing the smaller 8 course guest chef! Plenty of food, really interesting choices , loved our selections.. Ok one thing I didn't like but still creative and fun to try new stuff. The drink menu and creativity of bar is off charts, for drinkers and mon drinkers. Definitely doing this again when they switch out to... More

Let's start with the negative. Not signed very well. Just north of walgreens. Go in through the restaurant cooler door. We were able to get 2 walk in seats. Very rare. Dave is fantastic at the bar! Signature drinks aren't cheap, but inventive and the bartenders will steer you in the right direction. I have read the bad reviews: amusement... More

Travail came to Robbinsdale with an interesting concept. Their excellent chefs and quirky presentations put them on the map. They quickly out grew their first location and were able to build a new facility. Their Downtown Robbinsdale location redeveloped as Pig Ate My Pizza, another twist on quirky. Definitely worth a visit.

We ate in the Spotlight section featuring chef Maddie Wilson. Each plate was colorful and unusual and most preparation was within view. We enjoyed seeing how food that were were asked to skewer or chop was eventually served. We had something to prepare, eat or watch at all times and each dish was excellent.

Absolutely awesome dinner and experience at Venture, Chef Maddie's spotlight pop-up restaurant within Travail. It's never a disappointment to dine at Travail, and deciding to try the spotlight over the regular Travail experience wasn't a mistake. A few of the most memorable bites would be the crab salad with Israeli couscous, the pork belly pop, and the hamachi with dashi... More
