We visited this lovely pub for the first time on Sunday absolutely desperate for a roast beef Sunday lunch. The owner is a generous, kind soul who explained gently that while they could offer an amazing total of four Award Winning Pies, there was no roast beef. He then generously suggested places where we might find roast beef. We opted for The Anchor at nearby Apsley Guise and were very happy there. We will return to the Rose & Crown at Ridgmont to sample their Award Winning pies. Well, it’s the least we can do.

We literally couldn't fault the service, all the staff were very attentive, we didn't feel rushed, very welcoming and friendly. The food was amazing... Even better its local meat, the pies and sausages were made by the staff themselves whom are so passionate about their food. The pies and sausages have won awards so they speak for themself and I can agree they were well worthy of any award, we couldn't fault anything. We even bought more pies and sausages to take home with us and will definitely be returning

Fantastic home made pies and sausages. A huge range of gins too! A great pub, serving delicious food. A great homemade pie, mash, peas and a jug of gravy all for £12.00! Fantastic value. The landlord is very friendly and was extremely welcoming towards us. There weren’t many people dining at lunchtime. So we were able to chat to the owner. Our friends bought frozen pies and sausages to take home. They were great value too.

We wanted to try camping off grid for a night for the first time and as this is very local to us booked here for a grass pitch only, no electric hook up used. We ate in the restaurant (outside due to covid) Food was lovely and hot, well presented and staff were friendly so no complaints there at all. We were cold due to no outside heaters but covid procedures were thorough and well established. Unfortunately we do think that the pitch cost of £18 for just a grass field is pricey when we were also spending almost £40 on meals...a percentage reduction off the pitch cost or off the meal would have been greatly appreciated and is usual with other pubs who offer camper pitches with EHU

I have eaten at this restaurant numerous times over the years through various changes of ownership. I arrived in time with a friend for a table booked for 8.00. Our welcome was non existent. We waited at the bar for 10 minutes and were completly ignored. Other customers were served before us including one that walked into the pub and was served straight away. No eye contact, no acknowlegement that we would be served in a moment......nothing. Customer service so important I will not be returning.

Review written on behalf of my parents (Visited 15 October 2022): My parents went for a dinner on a Saturday evening in October. They had a steak and fish and chips for mains. Unfortunately the food was cold and undercooked when presented to them. When this was brought to the landladies attention she became hostile and defensive resulting in my parents just paying the bill and leaving as they wanted to get out of the situation. I would avoid this place if you value customer service and good food. However if you are looking for Victorian eta service and quality of food then roll up.

Amazing quality food, friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. We stopped here for lunch with our 2 year old twins and we all loved our meals. Owner was knowledgeable and helpful as well as being really friendly and welcoming - especially with the little ones. We highly recommend and will be returning ASAP.

Fabulous place with the option to stay onsite in a caravan/camper for £20 - showers aren’t open but toilet are and they are immaculate. Booked in easily and the staff were brilliant. We ordered food and drinks from the pub and I have to say it was all brilliant. No rush to order, good at explaining what’s on the menu etc. I ended up having the sausages which were fabulous and my other half had a whale of a fish. Drinks reasonable price normal for pubs £4.20 for a cider, £4.45 for premium beer. Meals you’re looking at £12/£15 a meal. Good range of gins on offer. I would highly recommend this place. They’re excellent themselves on the outside space and covid rules are adhered to. Ps they don’t kick you off pitch at stupid o’clock either!

🌟We had heard that The Fish & Chips at The Rose & Crown was really good, so having been disappointed by our local fish and chip shops regularly, we thought we would give it a try. We ordered it to take away. . It was fabulous, it was piping hot, portion sizes were very generous and it was the best Fish & Chips we’ve had in years. We would definitely recommend and will definitely be back. Thank you. 🌟

Lovely old pub in the village of Ridgemont, Bedfordshire. Great Sunday lunch - served on hot plates with plenty of veg & gravy. Cheerful staff, great garden and beautiful views over golden yellow fields. This is not a gastro pub or a trendy venue but just a great traditional pub - no frills, just friendly and serving great food. Plenty of parking too. Our first visit but we will be back

We stopped here as a halfway break on our way to a family holiday in Wales, and it was so good we immediately booked again as our break on the return journey. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the delicious food was obviously cooked fresh to order. The pub was dog and baby friendly, and they were really accommodating when we couldn't be sure of our exact arrival times due to traffic on the long journeys. Would highly recommend, thank you so much

Excellent choice menu along the lines of the traditional English pub fare. Good selection of beers, including London Pride, to compliment the large portions of well prepared and presented meals. Our first visit after Tom and Rachel have taken over, and was not disappointed with the transformation. Nice selection of perfect volume background music that still allowed table conversation in the restaurant. Easy diversion off the A507 to the pretty village of Ridgmont, and close to Junction 13 of the M1. Wishing the New Management every success. We will certainly be calling in again.

Stayed in the camping field and enjoyed some pints and meals in the pub. Chicken, ham and leek pie was an utter joy, crammed with meat and very tasty served with mash and nicely cooked veg, so good, I had it 2 nights running. My wife also liked the pie and the superb fish and chips. Obviously cooked by a proper chef. Great service at the bar too. The pub is a good base to tour from, and perfect for us to stay whilst visiting Duxford museums in Cambridgeshire.

Perfect pub lunch. The salt and pepper squid starter was lovely. We had fish and chips and a fish pie. The veg accompaniment to the fish pie was well cooked. The pie itself was delightful. We'll be back.

Lovely homemade pies and sausages but we’ve had better. A good selection of pies and sausages all homemade. Gravy was a bit thin. Prefer seasonal vegetables with pie instead of just peas. Lack of real ales to chose from. One on pump and bottles. Staff not super attentive as we had to wait a while for one drink.
