Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Meal good although would like some more trimming with the burger. I'm sure they would have if I had asked. Missing tomatoes etc but that's just my opinion. Chips were hot which is good. Portion size good.

We hired the 'venue' room and had a family gathering to celebrate a 70th birthday. This event was a great success in every respect including the fantastic food and service provided. The staff were so helpful and polite. Food was amazing and we even had...our own music, assisted by the venue. Easy to park, our own front entrance and spotless toilets. It's the 'real deal' and the events manager, Tracey, is so professional. We would ceritanly book this again.More

As a family we have met up for food and drinks here fairly regularly but not any more. We as a group of 10 visited on a Sunday and in all honesty we may as well have been eating at a Hungry Horse type establishment...but for more than double the price.Several of us had the mixed roast and the meat was awful.Tasteless and dried out and don't even get me started about the soggy veg.I could have coped with this but not @ £15.95! Premium price for sub standard food.We also had to ask for sauces which did come quickly to be fair but in small disposable plastic pots like an Indian takeaway. Not the way to go in this day and age. In short this place has gone MASSIVELY down hill and relies upon its nice riverside location for trade. To be fair they were very busy but this isn't an excuse.Big shout to the girls serving who were doing they're best under the circumstancesMore

Staff were friendly and helpful. The view being by the river was great. However the food has really gone down Hill unfortunately. We came over a year ago now and had a lovely meal so we thought we hadn’t been in a while so would...return. The menu has obviously changed and the meals were very basic, I sent my burger back because it was so tough, slopped in a cheap bun with chips on the side. No presentation whatsoever no garnish or salad on side of the plate. No sauce in the burger I had to put my own in. Really disappointing and not worth the money. They also had Chicago town pizza on the menu, how embarrassing and lazy. Really need to work on the menu and food or sack the chef as it lets the place down. Waitress was helpful and let me order something else. The friendly Staff are keeping this place going but the food will ruin it!!More

Been many times ,but sadly going downhill, mains were nice and pudding ,my starter of cheese mushroom looked awful and was terrible, the young waiter dealt with it well and we were not charged but surely the chef looking at the greasy mess should have realised,so all...in all food ok ,but the cushions were absolutely disgusting, stained and filthy...would take an hour in the machine !!! Clean it up...not acceptable .More

My wife and I ate here as it was near to WickenFen we were visting and I thought there were a couple of healthy options on the menu. I ordered the tuna, egg and prawn salad with garlic bread. The prawns were tasteless, the hard...boiled egg was a tepid poached egg with a runny white. The salad was a massive load of iceberg which is bland at the best of times, a (very) few other leaves, scant cherry tomatoes and cucumber. It was served with a Marie Rose dressing when a Ceaser would have been better. Nothing on the plate went together either taste-wise or visually. It was a mess. And the garlic bread had a very peculiar taste and we couldn't decide whether it was musty garlic or rancid butter or an odd herb. It would have taken so little effort to improve this plate of food with better combinations and presentation. It looked like it was done by a child. Oh, and one of the waitresses looked like she didn't want to be on the planet never mind in the room! Overall, not a pleasant experience. And this was the healthiest food on the menu - the rest were downright dangerous if you were trying to eat well. The only positive was the quick service so we were out quickly.More

This was the last Friday afternoon in June and we enjoyed an excellent late lunch. Plenty of parking, a large pub with plenty of seating both inside and outside. Extensive menu, we all enjoyed two courses of delicious pub food. Excellent service and great value...for money.More

We decided on a spur-of-the-moment visit on Friday lunchtime, as the weather was hot and sunny, and we live locally. We have visited previously, but in the evenings - and our last visit would have been some months ago. We decided to sit outside on...one of the benches, overlooking the river, and one of the trees provided a bit of welcome shade. There are quite a few very friendly ducks that wander around, and we enjoyed their company as they are always on the look out for friendly patrons who can spare a few scraps. The first downside occurred shortly after we sat down and had ordered drinks - someone obviously thought that Friday lunchtime (12.30 - 1.30) was the perfect time to start the ride-on mower, and they then drove it up and down, mowing the grass area that the pub tables were located in whilst everyone was outside trying to enjoy their food and drink, and the peaceful surroundings. Part of the reason for our visit was to enjoy the tranquility of the river in a nice remote location, so having to talk loudly to each other above the engine noise wasn't great. I would hope they don't get the Henry vacuum cleaner out and vacuum the seating area inside during the middle of lunch service, and this is no different. How about doing doing the grass a couple of hours earlier, before the customers turn up? We ordered the beer-battered fish and chips which I had seen during a previous visit, and which looked nice. The fish itself was lovely and crispy, the chips were rather oily and not crispy, and I had hoped that £4.50 for a side portion of onion rings might result in some freshly beer-battered onion rings (like the fish) but unfortunately they were 'supermarket versions' which weren't that nice - I wouldn't bother with them were I to do it again. The tartare sauce could have been amazing too, but I presume it came out of the bottle and was served in a tiny disposable plastic container like you sometimes get from the Indian takeaway for mango chutney. The tartare sauce from Tesco is better. We had a very average lunch experience and won't be quick to return. To summarise, good points: Location, friendly ducks, lovely bar staff who couldn't have been more helpful, and nice beer-battered fish. Bad points: noisy lawnmower being driven around the guests at the height of lunch service; chips, onion rings and tartare sauce was nowhere near the standard of the fish - and was therefore disappointing.More

Arranged to meet some friends due to the position (approximately 55 minutes from both couples) We did try to book but were told to just turn up so we did, no problem with that loads of seating luckily. Service-good, friendly if a little disorganised Food-...ok, not fabulous and not terrible, just pretty standard pub fayre with (for nowadays) quite competitive prices Location- beautiful riverside, boats and views WARNING!! We found out that Friday night is music night, LOUD is an understatement, simply not suitable for the venue, fairly heavy/indi rock at a volume that made it really difficult to communicate with people on your table, we retreated to the furthest point away and it was just about manageable. Their website has events listed but literally zero information regarding the band or the volume Spoilt what should (and could) have been a fabulous night out because no one loves live music more than us, but in this environment/venue the offering was completely out of place. Will we return? Debatable, inability to book is a major issue given the distance we drive to meet up Advice: sort out your website!!More
