My wife and I stopped here for lunch whilst travelling around in our van conversion. We had a lovely walk around the village before the pub opened which worked up an appetite for the excellent fish & chips which were superb value. The staff were all very friendly and made us very welcome. The pub is a great asset for... More

Squeeze through the narrow split storm doors of what looks like a terraced house and you are into the compact lounge bar on the right, with small bar servery and friendly staff. Fresh food is prepared to order which is first class and not too expensive, limited range of drinks and slightly dissapointed that the local ale tap was not... More

Visited here every time we are in Islay. Always a warm welcome from Laura and the locals. Food is fantastic - home made soups, pizza and freshly caught seafood are our favourites! Many other options on the menu!! Traditional surroundings with cozy coal fire. Take a step outside and watch the world go by with seals basking on the rocks!!... More

We had read about this little pub on the internet and decided to drive out from Port Charlotte for dinner. We tried to book a table beforehand, but they only take bookings for big groups, so we just turned up and it was fine, we got a seat in the bar rather than in the empty lounge room next door.... This small and cosy pub is a gem! Not big, but neither is Portnahaven and guess most locals could fit into it. Atmosphere is brilliant and Kirsty managing the pub the night we visited is as well. Unfortunately we hadn't read the memo about the closed kitchen a few days during the week, so we had to manage with liquid... More

Stayed in Portnahaven and had both a lunch and an evening meal. The pea and basil soup was delicious a meal in itself. Back to eat in the evening and had the smoked salmon salad followed by one of the best bread and butter puddings I've had in a long time and extremely good value for money. Lovely real fire... More

The pub is somehow a must do on Islay. Great atmosphere and friendly people. Tourists and people from the island are there. Food is typically for a pub and in good quality. And after watching the seals it is always time for a beer here.

We needed to grab lunch somewhere, and this provided a very tasty choice. We watched the seals in the bay while we waited for our food to arrive. I would certainly visit again.
