This was my first time there and it turned out to be a positive experience. The menu is not that huge, but everything on it was good. I had the crab cake and fried oyster caesar salad and it was great. Everyone else with me...said their dishes was just a good. Great spot for date night or just meeting up with some friends with great food.More
Great resturant, wonderful menu with variety of entrees. I do not eat meat and ordered Halibut, my husband had the Red Snapper and both were perfection. Great wait staff and ambiance. Wish we lived closer to eat here more often.
For a good meal that seems like a great dinner, McEwen’s is the place to meet in Oxford for a business or a social lunch. Some friends from Manhattan came down for a few days, and they said it was their favorite place we visited,...especially the wine list.More
We had a quick visit to the University and downtown Oxford on Sunday. Lucky to get in for lunch. Food was very good. While they had mainly Sunday Brunch, they did have several linch items. My husband was the first thrilled with the hamburger- large,...juicy and medium rare. My chicken salad was very good too. A popular Sunday restaurant.More
Great food! The price is right as well. Our service was excellent for such a large group! Be sure to ask for Mims as your server.
Great spot on the square for a quiet couples dinner. The entrees were great— but the doughnut bread pudding was epic awesome yummy. Our server Caroline was a delight— friendly and knowledgeable. Do yourself a favor— eat here.
Hamburger is excellent. 3 Salads. Maybe 13 items. Ask for a table by the window to see Cool Oxford and very famous people. Service was good. Very up-scale and no to few college students. This is a top class restaurant.
We drove in on a Thursday on way to a funeral from Birmingham AL. Arrived around 1 pm to find that they had decided to close for lunch because they were not busy enough. No wonder! Don’t plan to eat there because they only open...on a whim. Ate at a competitive restaurant on the square and waitress said she has never been either because of sporadic hours.More
We had the seared tuna and a duck dish (dont recall the name). Both were tasty, but far too salty for us. Service was very good and the setting was ok. No outside seating, inside setting was ok. Prices were as expected.
The presentation was great, food was ok, and service was ok. We ate here on a Friday night of a football weekend, so I get that they were busy, but no excuse for lukewarm food to be served.
We picked McEwen's based on the reviews and the menu. We was seated promptly on arrival. The waitress was helpful and a breathe of fresh air after a long day of travel. The cocktails where perfectly crafted. The sea bass was amazing and the banana...cream pie is the best I have ever had. I would highly recommend this charming and tasty stop.More
We met some friends in Oxford for dinner. They are locals and recommended McEwen's and we were not disappointed. We were greeted at the door when we arrived and our table was ready. The four of us shared the Poached Pear and Lobster Roll appetizers...which were delicious. We each had something different for dinner. There was a Duck Breast, Pork Roulade, Sea Bass and Beef Tenderloin. We all enjoyed our meals. The restaurant also has Craft Drinks that were also interesting. The service was great, attentive enough but not intrusive, and the atmosphere was nice and not too loud. Definitely recommend McEwen's.More
One of the best meals I’ve ever had in Oxford. Will definitely go back! We went with a large group and they were extremely accommodating.
Had dinner here on Friday night. My husband was looking forward to the fried oysters, unfortunately they did not have any oysters. Decided on the fried quail, he said it was moist and well fried. My nephew had the duck gumbo, he said it was...tasty but could have used more meat. My husband had the grilled salmon as an entrée which he said was delicious but he was disappointed that the side of carrots had been replaced with greens and he had not been enough informed of that. I had the smoked scallops over mushroom grits. The mushroom grits were a unique preparation that was very tasty. Unfortunately I felt that the smoked scallops were quite dry. My nephew had pork belly papa fella. The presentation was odd, just a beige dish without very much pork nothing to spice it up and a bit dry. Two cocktails, two glass of wine $150. I had high expectations because it was recommended by an Oxford local but it did not live up to my expectations.More
