I stopped by for lunch on a Friday with my husband and two children. There were a few people already dining but it was relatively quiet. The two-way real fire was lovely and helped to create a real cosy and welcoming atmosphere. The pub was extremely clean too. We were greeted by a very pleasant waiter who let us choose where to sit and our waitress was extremely attentive and thoughtful throughout, bringing crayons over for my 2yr old and ice when she got upset after eating a hot chip 🤦♀️
Our food was really fantastic... I had the steak and ale pie with chips, veg and gravy, and my husband had the hot roast beef sandwich (one of the best beef sandwiches he's ever had). The chef was even kind enough to puree some vegetables for my 8month old! The lemon tart was delicious too.
They have a good selection of real ales and a tasty pinot grigio.
On the whole, an extremely pleasant family lunch out. I cannot believe we have never been before and we will definitely be coming back/ recommending to others.

Have began to come here regularly and it is just amazing, great drink selection, absolutely wonderful service, the warmest smiles and hello’s, the food is delicious. I recommend the Camembert sharer starter as it’s divine as well as the steak which is always perfectly cooked to order and other delights such as the pork belly, tomato tart and burgers. Great portion sizes and the home made chips are delicious. The best chocolate brownie we’ve ever had at any restaurant, thank you so much for always being so accommodating !

Have eaten here many times. The Sunday roast has been excellent each time we’ve visited. We have requested our beef be served well done with no pink meat, and has been done so without question. This has got to be one of the best roasts we have eaten out.
Understandably there may be a short wait due to covid restrictions but maybe more staff needed for drinks orders?

This is our local pub and we have been on many occasions before. We were sat at one of the outdoor tables that cannot be pre-booked having drinks, then asked for a menu and checked if it was ok to order food. We were given a menu and made our choices, but before we were able to order another member of staff told us we needed to leave as a different table in one of the bookable areas had 'overrun', they therefore needed the space to move them across to our table so they could free up the booked area...
We queried why we needed to move as the issue with the booking over running was not our fault and clarified that our table was not pre-booked by another party. I explained we had been told it was ok to stay and order food. The member of staff was rude and unprofessional in her response and made us feel very uncomfortable around other guests and staff.
We did not want to make a fuss at the time and frankly did not want to stay and spend more money there after the way we were treated. We are regular customers, but will now make a point of not going there again and would not recommend anyone else does so.
Having spent over £40 the day before on drinks and then an additional £40+ this evening along with tips, we are very upset and disappointed pointed with this situation.

Looked forward to going here as had heard good reports. Unfortunately it ended up being a disaster. The waitress didn't know basic questions about the menu (what's on the rustic pizza, what are gourmet chips) and ended up missing off one of our meals. When this was eventually noted, a strange excuse of serving pizza to 50 school children was given as the reason for the delay. Obviously if we'd known that we wouldn't have ordered pizza. When the pizza did eventually arrive, after everyone else had finished their meals,it was the wrong one. On speaking to the manager, this was apparently our fault as we'd asked about the rustic pizza and confused the waitress. She also didn't appear to know anything about the 50 school children, so I'm guessing that wasn't true.
We all know things can go wrong, however instead of just holding their hands up and apologising it was made out to be our fault. Very disappointing.

The venue is sited in Pipe Gate, on the A51 Staffordshire/Shropshire border, and has a small car park to the front, and a large car park to the rear. We were welcomed on arival, and shose to sit in a window table in a pleasantly carpeted room. Our light lunch was served quickly by a friendly waitress, and was delicious. I have never eaten a freshly-prepared Scotch egg, which was first class, and a standard which others can only aspire to. On a Tuesday lunchtime the venue was busy with diners, which indicates its high standards can attract visitors to its very rural location. Highly recommended.

We had an absolutely fabulous meal last night for my son's birthday. We had rump steak, a child's burger, a curry and gluten free battered fish and chips. Very large portions, homemade, very tasty, great service and great prices, especially considering the prices of other pubs in the area.
We look forward to returning soon.

I was looking for a Sunday lunch menu for my family group of 6 all with dietary needs so I emailed the Chetwode for their details. I got a very quick ,very friendly and helpful reply . It suited all of us so I booked
All COVID regulations were in place and we were seated by a welcoming cheery log burner.
The food and service were both excellent even though it was quite busy.
Would definitely book again.

We waited for half an hour to be served (week night so less busy). We were told we couldn’t order at the bar. The starter (bread) arrived half hour later. We waited another half hour to the main which consisted of undercooked chunky chips (not the fries as they were unavailable). Slow service considering the halloumi burger cost £15 and the steak cost £25. Overall, we were disappointed with the meal and service.

We had a nice meal here with the family. The waitress was very polite and attentive. The service was timely.
The food was not cheap eg gammon approx £13. The food was hot and a good size when it came. The chips were not nice a kind of cross between a wedge and a chip but burnt on the outside and some not cooked on the inside.
Deserts were lovely lotus cheesecake to die for at approx £6.00 quite expensive.

Bank holiday Monday. We had booked to take my partner’s mother for a meal to celebrate her 92nd birthday. We were given a table near the door ….along with a large group who had several children with them and noisy adults! The service was quite slow but we enjoyed the food, though I thought it was a little overpriced for a pub and not a restaurant. Our main concern was the location of our table alongside a large noisy group where we struggled to hear our own conversation! Disappointing overall.

We've been to the Chetwode Arms for lunch a couple of times recently. On both occasions the welcome was as warm as the log burner and the food was tasty. Pleasant decor with tables sensibly spaced, good parking and immaculate toilets. (PS another contributor mentioned that they didn't like the chips - those who always order a pub meal with chips should note that they are not traditional, more like wedges)

Four of us went for a meal in the evening.
The staff were very friendly and attentive.
I had the belly pork and black pudding dish which was excellent. My friends lamb rump was also good. The steak pie was a ’real’ pie (pastry sides not the usually puff pastry too) apparently home made which my husband loved.
Sweets appeared home made and delicious.
Will definitely be going back.

Quite simply the portions were tiny. I don’t like chips in tubs but these were in Ramekins. Although everything was homemade and the taste was nice-the Bacon Burger was really small for £15. I know that prices have gone up but you need to make sure that if you’re at the top end of the market-you can’t have tiny portions. The service was nice until I did tell her what I thought. She didn’t take it very well
