We were staying nearby to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary, we had booked a table, and we were greeted by the owner who is very friendly. We asked what the crispy carbonara is, and it sounded so delicious hubby ordered it as a starter, he has never tated anything like it so delicious, I had the terrine which was so nice, mains were slow cooked beef for me and sea bass for hubby. We so enjoyed our meal that we booked for the next night again a lovely welcome, even though there was a big party of ladies in we were shown to our table and given the menu. We chose baked camenbert for hubby, and pate for me. To follow we both had a rack of delicious ribs. Parking in car park behind, or on the street, really friendly clean pub, shame we live 21/2 hours away, if we lived remotely nearby would eat here every few weeks

Absolutely fantastic, as always! Becky was charming, kind, and can never do enough. The wine list is superb, and Becky was adept at suggesting a wine pairing for or meals. I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of enjoying the Thai green king prawn & gyoza curry with rice and a cucumber & sesame salad on the specials board - if this ever makes a future appearance make sure you give it a go because it's fantastic! The Asian Chicken was also fantastic, and their unique aranchini filled with carbonara are always fab. Classic Red Lion portion sizes will mean no one will leave hungry. Overall, a perfect evening. It's somewhere I'll always come back to.

Called in for lunch. Plenty on offer. I had a pint of Moretti, £5.30, my Queen had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, £9. My wife had the fish finger sandwich, £7.95 and I had the BBQ and cheese burger, absolutely delicious. My one slight complaint, it was a small portion of chips and nothing else with the burger. Followed with Spotted Dick and custard, £7.95, a little pricey for what it was. Lovely staff, great atmosphere, highly recommended.

We have been a customer of the Red Lion for many years. This was the worst experience we have had in a restaurant in a very long time. The restaurant room we were sat in was too cold for a number of our family. The overall lunch took nearly 3 hours with most of that waiting to order or waiting for courses. Tge food quality was very average at best. Fish and chips was fresh so rhat was a positive. The roast lunches were abysmal. The meat seemed to be boiled rather than roasted, the potatoes were almost certainly re-heated from the previous day with much of the rest of the meal microwaved. In the end we cancelled all deserts due to waiting over 35 minutes for deserts only to be told there wasn't one of the deserts available! The pub at the time was no where near what you would call busy but it felt like the kitchen was vastly overrun. Other guests had starters missed with apologies from the staff so this was not an isolated case. The owners need to rethink how they staff their business and employ some experienced restaurant management! Something is going very wrong with this establishment!

We booked here for a mother's day meal as we had a good experience the previous year. We came away very disappointed this time. We had very few vegetables with the main meal we ended up with two carrots, a half a parsnip, small portion of cauliflower cheese and small portion of broccoli , the plates were swimming in gravy, the meat didnt taste like it had been roasted, the lamb was chewy and pink, the yorkshire puds were flat and reheated as were the roast potatoes. When I mentioned the lack of vegetables I was told that I should of asked for more, this felt a bit like an Oliver twist saying. This was after the meal no body came over to check whether things were ok. We looked over to another table same size party and they had twice as much as what we did which seemed unfair. We have never been in a restaurant where we have to ask for more. This meal wasn't cheap at nearly £170. we won't be returning as we was ripped off.

Visited here for pre-Christmas Sun lunch with family. First visit for all of us and were very impressed. Table was ready on arrival opposite a real fire. Staff attentive and friendly. Excellent choice of food and came to table quickly. All meats were tasty and had plenty of gravy on plate. Separate portions of vegetables were served and extra carrots were delivered swiftly. Not all of us had desserts, but those who did were very happy. Overall a pleasant visit to a quaint pub with excellent food. We would all recommend this place and plan to visit again soon.

We came for a beautiful Mother’s Day meal with all the family, very accommodating as last minute we had to change the booking from 8-12 people. They went above and beyond for our special day, with an added touch of Prosecco and chocolates!! Beautiful restaurant for bigger parties too, as they have a special separate dining area to accommodate different celebrations and events.

Spent the weekend in Caythorpe attending my niece’s wedding. The Red Lion catered for the whole event from the wedding breakfast to the evening spread, finishing with the breakfast the morning after. The food was by far the best I’ve experienced at any wedding. It was hot and served on time which considering the amount of guests attending was some achievement. All in all a fantastic experience and I look forwards to visiting the red lion on our future visits to Caythorpe. Highly recommend if your in the area!

We had time with friends at Belton house and decided we wanted a sunday lunch close by. It was short notice but the Red lion fitted us in . The sunday menu is very good we all had roasts which was excellent and good portions , only downside is they had run out of lamb so thats one for next time. Didnt go for the 3 course but we managed excellent desserts. The service by the staff could not have been better very attentive and obliging could not do enough for us. We will be returning

Just back from a delicious family Sunday dinner. The food here is proper pub food, done well. Fresh, tasty and in good portions. We all five enjoyed each course and all our ‘special’ requests were welcomed. We had two kids and one picky eater, nothing was too mush trouble. Chefs did a cracking job and we all left very full and happy 🧑‍🍳 Their service however really made it. Both kids were made to feel special, the dogs welcomed and a good craic for the adults. Personalised, polite, laid back and friendly. Genuine hospitality done brilliantly 👏🏻 I couldn’t recommend this place anymore! We will definitely be back. Thank-you for a lovely Sunday afternoon. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Becky the landlady of the pub allocated a request for a table of 4 adults for a evening meal at very short notice. The same group of friends had had a previous wonderful experience in this lovely pub and it didn’t disappoint. The Red Lion in Caythorpe is a gem of a pub. The staff are friendly, attentive and professional. The reasonably priced menu offers a good range of meals to choose from. The portions are good, the food is scrumptious, excellent quality and served hot within a time. There are a good range of alcoholic drinks including craft ales and non alcoholic drinks including gin to choose from. There is parking at the rear of the pub. There are many lovely places to dine in Lincolnshire which serves good quality food at reasonable prices with excellent customer service. The Red Lion is definitely one of them. As on a previous occasion we couldn’t fault our visit. We look forward to returning in the near future. Thank you to all the staff.

I hadn’t visited the pub whilst it had the current owners so after looking at the reviews decided to try it for my Birthday family meal. We weren’t disappointed, after lovely starters the mains were even better. Slow cooked beef, fish and chips and my choice of steak pudding was delicious and a massive portion. Our party of 8 had excellent service fronted by Becky , who kindly brought me a Birthday treat and candle. We will definitely be back, faultless.

We took my mother in law and her partner here for Mothering Sunday, the food was lovely (and plenty of it!). Love the fact that you can have a choice of meats on your roast dinner - great for picky eaters like me! It’s good to also have a choice of other food apart from just roast dinners on a Sunday. The service was outstanding despite the fact they were really busy, the food was served quickly and was really good quality. Lovely, friendly atmosphere - extra bonus that its dog friendly too :-)

Great evening with friends at the Red Lion. Our party of 10 enjoyed excellent food, wine and service. Very varied choice of foods, well prepared and presented - both starters and main courses, some of the party made it to the desserts, again very good. Good selection of wines too! Thanks to Becky and staff for their friendly, attentive service!
