Three of us had Sunday lunch here. They were very busy. The initial drinks service was a little slow and the food was only just hot enough but other than that the decor is nice the table service is good and the staff are friendly...and engaging. The food tastes really nice. It’s also very good value for money. I do recommend it here and would happily visit again.More

Recommend by a friend, lovely lady on the phone managed to squeeze me and my husband in last minute, beautiful place, food was amazing, chowder for starter was soooo tasty, we both had the blade of beef for mains, extremely well cooked , the beef...melted in your mouth, the most delicious green veg. The chefs are obviously very talented, just one tip guys, be more adventurous with the choice of dishes on your menu, as it’s all very safe and I really think you could wow even more 😄 Great drinks and wine selection, pudding menu looked good but we were both full so didn’t try. We would definitely go back as such a lovely place to eat and they have the best most friendly waiting staff I have ever seen in a restaurant. Thank you all for a lovely night.More

All of us were disappointed with our meals in various ways. The food was badly cooked and expensive. Having had a very good lunch previously I was looking forward to the evening meal. Unfortunately we will not be visiting again.

We were impressed for the first couple of minutes in the entrance, sat on a comfortable settee drinking our apéritif, but it all went downhill afterwards. The food was poorly cooked and we found it hard to have a conversation because of the shoutiing coming...from customers nearby. The accustics magnified the noise from the (mainly younger) diners who treat this place like a party venue. High prices did not match the food or service, and they need to change or retrain their chef.More

This was our second visit and once again we had a fantastic experience. The staff really do make you feel so welcome, the environment is warm and cozy and very clean. I had the pheasant which was tender and so tasty, my husband had a...fillet steak that he says was the best. Sadly we weren’t tempted by the deserts this visit, Also excellent wines available.More

Boxing Day isn't the ideal day to celebrate your birthday, so I was delighted to find that the Blacksmith's Arms was open for lunch. Having previously dined there in the summer with friends, we were looking forward to our return visit and hoped that it...would live up to our expectations. And it did! Michelin-star worthy plates, packed full of seasonal flavour and beautifully presented. We opted for Risotto with crispy kale and Spiced Butternut Squash and Parmesan Veloute to start, served with delicious warm bread rolls. I opted for the steak as my main dish, which was beautifully cooked, whilst the birthday girl opted for the perfectly slow-braised Blade of Beef. For dessert, the sorbets were packed full of fruity flavour, as was the Blackcurrant Parfait. If there is one improvement I would suggest, it would be choice of plate; the steak and mushroom would present better on a plate of a more contrasting colour. As previously mentioned, the restaurant has a superb wine list, for both bottles and glasses. Prices are very reasonable. Service was super - friendly and helpful. I would recommend this restaurant without reservation.More

First visit - Sunday lunch. Welcoming tasteful decor with comfortable seating and warm log burner. Lunch was a little different to norm, beautifully presented and very tasty fresh ingredients - highly recommended £22 Two Courses £28 Three Courses. Met one of the owners, very pleasant,...who told us the building was the original village Blacksmith dating back to 1753 - had retained some original features and character All in all no hesitation in recommending.More

Had a thoroughly enjoyable Sunday lunch, warm greeting, lovely atmosphere in the room where seated. Enjoyed 3 courses, roast beef succulent & full of flavour, all veg accompliments & the yorkshires very tasty, the gravy really flavoursome. Both starters of pork belly, mac & cheese &...then the desserts of sticky toffee pudding & chocolate tart complimented an enjoyable main course. Wine very well priced, we chose a Malbec which was full bodied & suited our choice of food. We will be back very soon, thank you to those in the kitchen & front of house who did a great job.More

Lovely food, staff kind and well trained, cocktails properly served, and just a great time. You are looked after properly here and made to feel welcome. Nothing is to much trouble and the food for all of us was incredible, to boot! First time we've...eaten outside lockdown and it's feltMore

As Bob J said there is an upstairs room. When we were given a tour we saw this room which was lovely. It was set out for party of 12 and would be perfect for a small group.

Dogs are not allowed. This is a restaurant rather than a pub.
