50 min north of Lyon. Worth the drive. Fantastic view, atmosphere and food. Try getting one of the first-row tables on the terrace.

The view from this place is absolutely stunning. Get a table up front if you can so you can really appreciate the vista over the vines to the ancient Moulin a Vent. The food was only ok. It is regional gastronomy so lots of foie gras and gratinated cheese which is not that suitable for summer and not of the... More

We lunched outside in the garden area on a beautiful fall afternoon. The food was equal to the delightful setting. Highly recommend the Bresse chicken which was the plat du jour. It is helpful if you know a little French.

We enjoyed a very good Sunday lunch. The views are good, looking out over the vines where, on our visit, we watched the grapes being picked. We had aperitifs outside whilst choosing our food, accompanied by some pâté and toast, and went inside to eat, where it was cooler. We didn't have starters but went straight for main courses, after... More

We had the mid priced set menu (not the cheapest, not the most expensive) and all felt we had a first rate dinner. The chef asked us afterwards how we had enjoyed ourselves. It was easy to be positive! We were 2 couples and we felt there was sufficient choice on the menu. We were there on a Saturday in... More

If you choose to eat at the Platanes, you will have to face a difficult choice: eat outside with a great view or inside with a gorgeous dining room. The choice of food is not very large, but what is served is truly great. The wine list is very good too, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality... More

Finding Les Platanes de Chenas takes a little effort but it will be well rewarded when you get there. A dining room with a stunning view over the Beaujolais vineyards is only the start. The menu is just excellent, service is professional and pleasant, and the wine list is what you'd expect. We had an amuse-bouche of creme brulee with... More

My wife, daughter and I happened to come here based on the recommendation of the proprietor at Chateau Lambert. While we were on foot and walked the two Kilometers between the Chatear and Les Platanes, it was worth every step of the walk. I started with a beautiful warm lobster salad and moved on to a delicious fish filet. My... More

A little off the main Beaujolais wine route in the village of Chenas, this restaurant is worth a detour. Both the main restaurant and a lovely terrace overlooked the vineyards. We first stumbled across the restaurant during our ramblings a year or so ago and marked it as a place to try. We were not disappointed. It was a perfect... More
