Arrived with elderly parents for their first trip out post lockdown. Disappointed there was no booking system, we had to wait in a queue and staff did not wear masks or face shields. However, once you are shown to your table they have a great system in place for ordering and paying for food. Food is super and we all enjoyed it tremendously. We could see that many tables and chairs had been removed to create space between customers but we still felt a little too close to the table beside us. Another 12 inches apart would have helped. All in all a fairly good experience, with helpful staff and lovely food. Just a few adjustments would help make it perfect.

I've been going to Vic-Ryn for years and have never been disappointed. Their scones are the best I've had and they've got lots of different varieties so you can try a new one each time. Went once for dessert night and the lemon meringue was yummy! Food is reasonably priced and their loyalty cards are good. Sometimes you can also get a refill of coffee which is a lovely touch.

Had difficulty finding a cake for my mums 70th Birthday, with her being diabetic. After trying several places my final call before giving up was to Cafe Vicryn. A lovely, very helpful young man named Glen answered. He advised that he would check with the Baker to see if they could make one. The following day I collected a beautiful chocolate cake decorated with fresh cream and fresh fruit suitable for diabetics. Glen was very professional, kept me updated, and with no bother had gone the extra mile to help. He is an asset to Cafe Vicryn. A big thank you to Glen and the person who baked the beautiful cake it was gorgeous and tasted delicious, thank you for making my mums day...ps we also had a lovely lunch while we were there. Tina 😁

Visited here a few weeks ago with my baby and mum after hearing excellent scone reviews. There was a lengthy queue to get in and seated but we waited anyway. After a 30 minute wait to get a table, my mum then had to queue again for self service?? this seemed strange as it was a doubly long time before we were seated with lunch…but to add to the long wait, some food is “cooked to order/fresh” (and I use that term very loosely) so you actually order that and you guessed it - wait again for that to be brought to the table. So is the cafe self service? Or table service? It doesn’t really make sense. It was 2:30pm before I received my meal and we arrived at the cafe at 12:45! The “crispy chicken loaded fries” were inedible, I had to return them because the chicken tasted like un-battered breast that had been fried and microwaved and fried again and then microwaved…honestly very strange meat. Spoke to the general kitchen manager who did replace the meal and changed it to chicken goujons on top of the fries but these were really soggy! They were brought over my a young friendly waitress who said “the chef has done goujons instead of that other crap chicken”..this was funny. I couldn’t send them back again and just ate them because I was ravenous by this stage and also getting embarrassed. The manager gave us a brownie on the house to apologise. All the staff seem to be flapping about and all the food at the counter is under heaters but then microwaved. So everything just looks a bit mushy and it wasn’t the experience I was expecting. The cafe would benefit from a far more streamlined ordering service or efficient table service which other places like McKees Farmshop, Harrison’s of Greyabbey and Donaghadee Garden Centre have all easily mastered - all of which have similar clientele, volume of customers and food range. Sadly the food was poor and expensive for what it was. I wouldn’t return and definitely would not recommend to anyone else. I have heard the takeaway scone element is great so would try that.

Wife and I went for lunch and we both had sausage and caramelised onion quiche one with coleslaw and one with potato salad. Wasn't very hot even though it had allegedly been in a microwave. It was also pretty bland. The price didn't help either with bill totalling nearly £18 which include one Tea as I had water. Can't believe they can charge so much considering we didn't have any other veg, potatoes of any sort or salad.Won't be back. Dave Berry

Went for scone and drink at lunch, but won't be back. On arriving, was escorted to table. But then you had to go up and queue with everyone else to get their hot food from the menu waiting on your table. But drinks, scones, traybakes etc at other counter but not serving there. And why tell the table number when I had to carry the tray to the table myself? So was this table service or not? While lots of people behind the counter, it took an eternity to get any one group served. Maybe because the hot food was being put in the microwave (I'm not sure I want to know why) or it taking 2 people to serve one person. On finally getting served, we got a list of scones, but by time the guy went to lift them my wife's choice was gone. No idea how as no one else was in front of us and it only took him 10-20 seconds to walk back over. The one scone we did get was OK, but any suggestion of being a top notch scone for entering our vote in a competition was never happening. Next time I'm looking food, I'll keep driving.

Went with my daughter for lunch and jointed the one way system and sanitised our hands only to be confronted by a person wearing no mask that showed us to the table. During our time there I only counted two staff wearing masks. Surly staff not prepared to use a mask should not be working directly with the public.Food was good so no complaints on that front.

I have been to Cafe Vic Ryn quite a few times. Their food is always top quality. You can get very good hot meals. You can pick from a great selection of potato, chicken, pie's, veg and other good dishes. Their dessert area is great. You are spoiled for choice, such lovely looking treats, pavlova's, lemon meringue's and other great desserts. I called in the other day for a cup of tea and a scone. Nice cup of tea, and an amazing scone. Their scones are really lovely. The best scones around. If you are driving by, do yourself a favour and call in and try their scones.

We had heard about cafe vic-ryn and their excellent food so as soon as it reopened we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed the quality of the food and the service was second to none. We had the special of the day which was seafood chowder. It was excellent, plenty of fish and deliciously creamy and the free top ups of coffee were especially welcome. We intend to visit again and try another dish on their extensive menu. Compliments to the chef and the staff.

Very disappointing visit. On placing order was told it was unavailable, second choice was unavailable and third choice unbelievably was also unavailable. Reluctantly ordered something else but was disappointed. It was Caesar salad, which had very little salad and what could have been 2 full chicken breasts, way too much and not enjoyable. My husbands meal was lasagne which was dry and unappealing. Both dishes where left half uneaten. We paid £31 for a very expensive disappointing Saturday afternoon. Staff were pleasant but based on this experience a return visit will be unlikely.

The restaurant provides lovely food and is very popular, but the prices are high. Ordering a main course is fine but adding a price for every choice of salad is a bit much and gives the final meal an unreasonably high price. For coffee and scones though it's pretty much in the ballpark!

Recently organised a hen party lunch hosted at cafe vic-ryn. The staff were extremely helpful and the food was delicious. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Also, I was particularly impressed by the service, as earlier in the day I had dropped the cake damaging the side. The staff went out of their way to make fresh buttercream so that I could rectify the damage. I was very thankful for their help!

Cafe Vic Ryn never disappoints. The food is top quality and fresh. We went with our parents for lunch. A lot of older people frequent the cafe as the seats are comfortable and the service is great. They really look after you. The food is amazing.

Vastly over priced when you have to stand in a ten minute queue like school dinners. Then to be charged £32 for two plates of lukewarm food. No wonder it was quiet during lunch. Won’t be back and have been going for the last few years. Staff always pleasant but not what it was.

I ordered a picnic with Vic Ryn. What a picnic? So lovely done with two big baskets of food and play dough for the kids. Sandwiches, scones, tray bakes, sweets and so much more. It's well worth the money the kids and friends loved it. Thank u so much for doing it for us a 2nd time. Xo
