I've heard good things but never ventured from my usual spots. I am thrilled I took out of town guests here before the KC symphony. The history of the building itself was a treat. Our waiter, John, was on the money with every single recommendation and selection. My guests ordered specialty drinks and he picked a glass of wine for... More

Listed by some as one of Kansas City's top ten restaurants, we have to say we were underwhelmed by the gastronomic effort. The food was not particularly memorable in either preparation or presentation. Still, it was agreeable. The service, however, was cordial and welcoming. This place may be a good place for drinks and lite bites overall.

We have heard about this place for years now, but finally had the chance to pop in for a lazy Monday afternoon. It's finally patio weather in KC and we loved hanging out on The Jacobson's patio. Their food and beverage choices were impeccable and our server was absolutely the best. I can guarantee we've just found a favorite to... More

We had a reservation here for 8 of us on a Saturday night. We sat outside in a large booth and it was a little cozy but worked well for us as we are all friends. The fire/torch was a nice centerpiece to the patio and the string lighting is always a favorite of mine for outside seating. The drinks... More

Large wine selection with great happy hour prices! The bruleed goat cheese & balsamic grapes and trio of spreads were so good and the perfect amount of food for three people at happy hour.

I have been to The Jacobson a few times and the quality of food never disappoints. I love freshness of the vegetables and the meat and the desserts are to die for. My guy always gets the Jacobson burger and says it's the best burger ever. For me I have to stick to an app, because the meals are far... More

We enjoyed an early dinner at The Jacobson. The appetizer of choosing three spreads (we had the blue cheese, white bean, and red pepper spreads) was a great way to start our meal. We then had the pasta/shrimp and the roasted game hen. Both were excellent! Highly recommend The Jacobson.

From the outside this place looks a bit like a craft beer place, but OMG the cocktails were fabulous! We tried a number of different ones at the table and everyone truly enjoyed it. John was extremely helpful with choices. Next time dinner!

First of all, parking is difficult so it you have reservations you might want to leave earlier than you would otherwise. We were there on Valentine's Day so it was really busy. The food was very good but the portions were small. The service was a bit slow but it was Valentine's Day... They don't serve bread. I don't think... More

Romantic tucked in the side streets of Crosswalk area downtown KC MO...great service and wonderful warm brick ambience made today's lunch land in the positive memory file! On a lesser note is the lack of choices on the menu...sandwich selection (French dip) RB, Chicken, Turkey Club & Cuban, and the house specialty Jacobson Burger...a few entrees including a great sounding... Description
The Jacobson or just simply “The J” is a cozy yet modern eatery with local seasonal items inspired by the flavors, spices, & cuisines of the Midwest and beyond. The J’s sharable “Mingle” plates along with innovative signature cocktail and flask service provide a unique mix of dining and socializing. Nestled in the historic Crossroads Arts District “The J” is situated in a converted industrial 4,000 square foot warehouse once occupied by A.D Jacobson. Interestingly enough, A.D. Jacobson was the brother of Edward “Eddie” Jacobson. Eddie Jacobson was a business partner and close personal friend of Harry S. Truman. The two owned and operated The Truman and Jacobson Haberdashery together in downtown Kansas City for many years and worked together on many other businesses and political initiatives. As you visit “The J” inside you will notice its simple yet modern décor adorned with art from Kansas City based artists.
