4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed yesterday NEW

Went here with a group of friends for my birthday recently. Enjoyed the food, and the setting was wonderful. Got the "farmer's platter" (Please don't ask me to even attempt to spell the actual German title), which had bacon, ham, and a bratwurst. Extremely tasty but by the end I was longing for something non-meat to have with it. Beer... More

The food was so good that my wife and I had dinner here twice during a visit to Kansas City. Their goulash was excellent, though the restaurant is expensive.

What separates this place from so many restaurants is that the food transports you to a different part of the world. You indeed get the authentic food of Austria, Germany & Hungary in a charming, mountain inn atmosphere. You should try the sausage combo for an appetizer and the goulash choices are favored wonderfully with paprika. The various types schnitzels... More

We tried Grunauer's in 2015, and were generally pleased. The ambience is great, and certainly representative of the old country. I had a trio of wursts, which I liked very much, while my wife had a schnitzel, which was just okay. Okay, but no cigar sort of thing. We both enjoyed the red cabbage, the spatzle, and the dark bread... More

It is difficult to find good, authentic German/Austrian food in the Midwest. How pleased we were to hear about Grunauer Restaurant in the renovated freight district of Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The restaurant has a classy, relaxing atmosphere. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. They have both a dinner and lunch menu filled with an excellent variety of appetizers,... More

Located in the old Freight house in the Crown Center area of KC, Grunauer's serves German and Austria fare and a great selection of on tap European beers. The Schnitzel was very good. If you like German, and if you like beer, put this on your list

My husband and son enjoyed the choice of sausages while I had a very good schnitzel sandwich but the pommes frites were the best! Staff was very friendly and efficient. We were definitely done in less than an hour so good place for lunch if you are a working person.
