In town for a meeting. Walked in and sat with 5 at the bar. Excellent bar tenders, VERY versed on the menu. Nice dishes, all with a bit of flair. Final bill was less than expected. 2 for 1 wine nite!

Thanksgiving dinner 2016 at cafe Trio in Kansas City Missouri. Very bad service, average food, absolutely horrible ownership!!!! Order the $50 ribeye for my Thanksgiving dinner @ Cafe Trio. When the the ribeye is served I immediately noticed the seasonal summer vegetables that it was served with zucchini squash tomatoes and other mixed summer vegetables. Keep in mind this is... More

Jeff, you and I both know that your review and post here on TripAdvisor (as well as other places) is a dishonest and deceitful fable. You contacted us not more than 30 minutes after leaving our restaurant yelling and screaming about being served what you described as "summer vegetables", i.e. zucchini and squash, and incoherently yammering on and on about... I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before. Of course I can only afford to go there a few times a year, but its always top notch. Saying it has Excellent service would be an understatement. Our last visit was with a very high maintenance type person and she put the waiter through the paces, but he took on... More

I ate there during the start of happy hour. Outside seating is available and I found the happy hour menu, although abbreviated, to be adequate. Food was good

We have wanted to try this locally-owned restaurant for a long time and recently had the chance. The atmosphere was modern and classy, with patrons of all ages (few kids whine we were there. ) We could've done without the overdone Halloween decorations, but realize others enjoy. The menu was concise and specialized. I had a wonderful spinach salad with... More

Service was good at least until our food arrived, then we seemed to be invisible. Once we did not want a second cocktail our waitress kind of ignored us. We finally had to request the check. Food is ok, not your typical KC fare.

My wife and I stopped off here during a recent visit to Kansas City. Strolling from a tour of the Atkins Museum of Art to our hotel in Country Club Plaza, Cafe Trio was just about at the half way point, perfect for an afternoon happy hour break. Cara made us welcome and we were seated in a prime spot... More

Slightly dressy urban style bistro with a chic vibe. Had charcuterie board and a spinach salad. Friendly crowd, urban upscale near the plaza

We visited Trio for Happy Hour recently. Their small plates menu provides lots of choices, and the wine and drink specials are varied. In addition to excellent service and food, this is a "grown up" place to sit and visit during HH. No loud music, just a pleasant atmosphere for good conversation.

Comfortable, calming and chic, Café Trio draws a diverse clientele of urban dwellers, on-the-town suburbanites and tourists who strike up lively conversations over classically inspired craft cocktails and beautifully imagined seasonal, from-scratch dishes. Perched on the incline at 45th and Main Street, the restaurant’s all-seasons patio view of the J.C. Nichols Fountain and Country Club Plaza add to the vibe. Executive Chef Adam Yoder and his culinary team hand-cut the steaks and chops and use a cornucopia of local and regional produce and artisan foods for their well-curated menu. Don’t-miss items include Café Trio’s handcrafted cracker-crust pizzas, roasted chicken, confit garlic mashed potatoes and the warm chocolate truffle cake. Imbibe your pleasures at the weekly happy hour with signature martinis such as the Marilyn Monroe or Paris Hilton — paired with the Price Edward Island mussels or crispy lump crab cakes, you just might have fantasies of taking up residence in one of Café Trio’s comfy booths. And if you’re planning a party, Trio’s two private event spaces are just the ticket for a sexy soiree.
