On arrival we found a large car park with plenty of spaces. Entrance through the door at the front into bar area. People sat eating by the door and it must’ve been annoying for them with everyone coming in and draughty. We arrived just before one. Ordered drinks at the bar and lunches. Sunday lunch was good sized portion. Beef a little on the chewy side. Vegetables good choice. Not a fan of the cabbage and cauliflower cheese bit bland. Needed cheese toasting on top. Saw someone eating pigs in blankets and they looked great. Desserts a bit on the expensive side. We all left feeling quite full. I would say that the service charge really annoyed me as it’s a pub that not a high end restaurant and I would’ve left a tip of my choice not what the pub decides. We’ve given this place a 4 but I think it’s more a 3.5/5 7/10. Friendly staff and they welcome dogs. The ones in there today were very well behaved

Just enjoyed an excellent lunch at the Fleece Inn - Hillesley today comprising of a Croque Monsieur and a Croque Madame - both were very well-prepared, tasty and satisfying. Along with a cosy log fire and great hospitality it was a very pleasant way to spend a Friday lunchtime. Thank you.

Beware misleading pricing:
Fish and chips were advertised as buy one get second one half price on Friday. When it came to paying for our lunch we were charged full price as we were told the offer was for dinner only ( the menu board didn't say that). Apparently this had happened before but the management had refused to change the offer description. It required a good deal of hassle to get any acceptance. Also an automatic and excessive service charge was added to our bill.

We came off the cotswold way on a detour after a morning of continual rain. Wow, what great service and perfectfood. I needed a very large latte coffee and the waitress leant me her pint mug for it…. ! Best coffee ever! The beef and horseradish sandwich was more than full of properly cooked pink beef! Meat feast or what! Such kind and helpful staff. Thank you so much.

Fabulous old style pub; real ales, friendly staff and locals, great Sunday lunches with a choice of foods and not silly prices (rest of weekly menu looks great too) , different areas with tables so everyone not herded in together, easy to find, dog friendly (actually more than friendly they loved dogs!) and great walks on the doorstep. What more do you need? The addition of a horse tied up outside when we arrived just added to the experience!

We had a good lunch after walking part of the Cotswold way. Very good food at a reasonable price with a good selection of beers and ciders to wash it down. All the staff were friendly and efficient. To cap it off when we couldn't find a taxi to take us back to our car, the landlady got out her own car and gave us a lift, thank you. Service to be proud of.

Having booked a table for 7.15 and arrived promptly. There was a table for 20 celebrating an eightieth birthday that seemed to be ordering when we arrived. By 8.30 there was no sign of our food which we had ordered an hour before so we decided to call it a day . We explained to the Land Lady who seemed surprised at our decision to leave. As were departing, the Land Lord was apologetic and said he would contact us the following day with the offer of a complimentary meal. As yet there has been an ominous silence so we may never know how good the food is.

Taken to The Fleece Inn by friends who lived in the area and wanted to show us what a proper village pub should be like. And it was fab. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff, lots of choices of real ales (Trooper was our favourite), a good menu to choose from with lovely food served up at reasonable prices. What was not to like. If only we lived closer.....

Brilliant 5 course meal with wine tasting last night. Each course was a treat and, coupled with the wines accompanying each dish, made for a memorable evening. Hats off to all concerned. Sign me up for the next one!

The Fleece provides a somewhat restricted menu but it is very good quality and reasonably priced - most pubs around this area of South Gloucester are rather over-priced. Service was also excellent. On top of this, the beer was brilliant with lots of choice. I'd not hesitate to eat eat and drink here again.

Visited for first time today. Warm welcome, great food and really good value. Barmaid was attentive and helpful without being intrusive and nothing was too much problem. Will definitely return.

After hearing a lot of good things about this pub, we booked a table for small group of friends for a Saturday night. We were asked to preorder, which wasn’t a problem.
We arrived at the booked time and ordered some drinks. Starters were very slow to come, probably over an hour. They looked like they had been bought from Iceland and weren’t very good. We then waited..and waited for our mains, even asking at the bar how much longer they would be. They eventually came and we’re ok, but considering we’d pre ordered the wait was way too long with no apologies And who puts a pie in a bowl? Only once we’re we asked if we wanted any more drinks, each time we had to go to the bar and ask for someone to come and take out order.
So, poor service, a long wait for food and just ok food.
Hope this was just a one off.

Called in for a pint with a friend.
Unfortunately the beer we were drinking was taken off even though it had just been put on.
There was nothing wrong with the beer, infact it was excellent.
So why would the landlord want to throw away three pints of perfect beer just to have a empty pub.
The Fleece should be removed from the GBG

Thank you for taking the time for leaving us feedback, all be it not positive in this instance! On that particular day we were prepping the cellar pre line cleaning and getting new beers ready to come on. That particular beer was put on when it wasn't ready to go on, hence the request to the team member to take it back off. We're sorry that you had an unpleasant experience on that day but glad to see that it hasn't put you off returning!!
