Had a fantastic meal, great service and very friendly. This was a trip with my father whom is 90 and the Carpenters Arms was his local when he was young being born up the road.I have a photo of him when he was about 20 outside the...pub and took another today to try and replicate the picture. The landlady even showed us some old pictures from the pub which my father could recognise some of the people from around the 1950.s.Thank you.More
Fabulous last minute decision to visit our local for food for the 1st time since being under new management. Wow! Food excellent, service great, friendly and timely! Recommend the scotch egg and the beer battered cod loin and chips! Great choice of desserts - bigger...portions please but only because that’s my favourite bit of the meal!! Will most definitely be back and will be recommending to friends and family! Good to have the hub of the village up and running again.More
My son Aaron had his wedding reception here and it was a triumph, the landlady's had decorated beautifully, all of the staff bent over backwards to make it a memorable occasion, the food was absolutely amazing, the canopies were unbelievably delicious, in all what a...fantastic venue and thanks to Maddie and Sarah for all they had done, thanks to the chefs for the excellent food, thanks to the bar staff for making everyone so happy and welcome, the pub has a beautiful ambience with open fires, wooden beams everywhere it's lovely.More
Although I agree with all the positive reviews of this pub , our experience was disappointing. The food , atmosphere and decor are all excellent. The service however wasn’t. Although our reservation was at 7.30 , we didn’t get our food until 9.15 . It...seemed the staff were more interested in socialising at the bar than serving their customers .More
First time visiting this traditional English pub. A lovely big roaring fire greeted us. The decor inside is really warm and inviting. The menu choice is excellent and were happy to cater for some small changes for some in our party. The staff were friendly...and attentive. We all had a 3 course dinner and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choices. The prices are very reasonable too. Highly recommend this place, and will definitely be returning.More
What a splendid Sunday lunch we had in this tastefully refurbished pub/restaurant. Could not fault it at all...perfect roasties, divine Yorkshires, wonderful selection of seasonal vegetables, beautifully cooked beef and lamb, divine puds, great coffee, exceptional service with a smile from all the attentive staff...in spite of how busy they were, and great coffee! Thank you to everyone at the Carps for a truly wonderful experience today, we will definitely be back!More
Visited this evening with family after the pub had been shut for a few weeks and we were very impressed. The food and service was fabulous. So pleased we can make regular visits again. Thank you
Popped in here for a spot of dinner last night, all I can say is wow! The food, drink and service was amazing, some of the best I’ve had in a while. Really friendly staff and all round good atmosphere. I’d really recommend to anyone...looking for a nice place to eat or drink!More
First special event at The Carpenter’s by the new team - and what a great night it was. Terrific Caribbean food and cocktails, great music, fun atmosphere and friendly, prompt service. So good to have our village pub back. The Carps is getting a well...deserved reputation for its food and atmosphere. Highly recommended!More
Whilst our with our daughter a couple of weeks ago we called in to The Carpenters Arms for Lunch. Excellent meal for all three of us. 1 opted for Bangers & Mash, one for Liver & Bacon, and I opted for the Duck. All first...class - good portion size - well cooked and served in a reasonable time. Also with puddings - all had different, and all excellent. Highly RecommendedMore
Our first trip since the takeover/makeover... And nothing disappointed! The pub has been given a warm, inviting and slightly quirky makeover, and a lot of thought and hard work has gone into it. Good use of recycling dotted around. My husband was quite in awe...of the beer keg urinals! Immediately made to feel very welcome by the staff. Very good variety on the menu. And we weren't disappointed when the mains arrived. Delicious! We had already looked at desserts and, despite some "specials" being additional options we all had the gypsy tart - it's rare to find this dessert that originated in Kent on the menu and not sold out! Again, delicious. After lunch, we sat in the patio area to the rear for further drinks. We were given the option to eat out there but declined as it was 31°, and lovely and cool indoors. A very smart outdoor area with a good amount of tables, but still plenty of room to manoeuvre to and from inside to the bar. Overall we loved it here and we're so glad this pub has reopened... We hope it's a great success! We will definitely be back, time and time again when we're able!More
Saturday lunch in the refreshed Carpenters Arms Wow, just wow. Amazing food (ploughman's and walkers lunch bagette with chips and a coffee). Lovely people and very nicely redecorated. We loved the old CA - we love the new Carpenters Arms even more. Thank you -...we will be back very soonMore
The venue , is a perfect place in the countryside . Decor is classy with a touch of quirkiness , inside and out . The landlords and ladies , Mark , Sarah and Maz give you a very warm welcome, a great trio of personalities....The staff are very attentive and friendly. Food tasty and presented beautifully. Overall , one of the best pubs in my area . You will certainly not be disappointed. Can't wait to return . Thank you for a wonderful eveningMore
We had travelled a long way for a family meet up and approached the pub with some trepidation, as previous experiences had been mediocre. The new ownership has injected new life into the place-welcoming bonhomie, bustling atmosphere and an above average Sunday lunch. Excellent service by...young staff. Only one drawback, the Spitfire was off!More
