Lovely staff, service was impeccable. 10/10 would recommend to a friend. Waiting staff were excellent and efficient and food was good too.

We’ve been going here off and on for years. Always a beautiful spot with nice staff and very average food. Todays fish and chips Ea the best thing I’ve ever eaten here. We’ll be coming here a lot more as we’re about to move to...Deal. Reading these reviews I can understand that a lot of people don’t like the changes. But from my experience today, it’s good and will hopefully go from strength to strength in the coming months.More
Have lived in Deal many many years - the Zetland up until this last year used to produce good quality meals . Now it has gone down hill drastically. Cheap ingredients - fast food type with restaurant prices in a pub . Too much fish...on the menu - they used to cater for everyone. A lot of local people support this place during the quieter seasons but if they want to continue they need to sort their menu and standard of food out . We’ve been 3 times since the new proprietor has taken over and won’t be returning or recommend until their reviews improve - Sorry . The positive points are the friendly staff, the cleanliness and location next to the Beach - beverages good and averagely priced.More
Disappointing. Plougams small pickles, bland cheese and ham and some sort of terrine? 2 small quarters of bread, no butter, £16. Plus, burger and small amount of chips, poor value. Loved the location though.
We have eaten in this pub many times over the last 10 years when it was a Free House, it has always been a gem and a pleasure until now, it has been taken over by Shepherd Neame brewery, they certainly know how to ruin...a previously good pub. Staff were friendly and attentive but lacking knowledge in food. The meals we ordered were over priced, poor quality, the smoked salmon fillet looked like something from Tesco, the veg wasn't present and the meal was tasteless, the scampi was all batter, fries average and no tartar sauce as they had run out, £19 for the salmon, £16 for the scampi, such a pity! We won't be eating here again. They're trading on the beautiful location of pub on a beach, apart from that it has nothing else to offer.More
In a half empty pub the only possible we could have was a 2 person table with a RESERVED sign on - squashed next to another couple (who had a table for 4 to themselves) When we asked about the other tables for 4 that...were empty they were ‘impossible’ …..despite no attendant RESERVED sign…. When we enquired about the small table it was made very clear that was it….’yes, that one FOR TWO people’ Condescending, yes, bordering on rude, yes….. We got a taxi into Deal and spent as much as 4 people would have! Such a shame this once good local pub has ideas WAY above its stationMore
What a great pub, lovely atmosphere, plenty of places to sit outside in the sunshine, Fun space at the back of the pub in the garden to eat or drink. Had mussels for lunch they were fabulous! Best we have had in years ! Will...definitely return to the gem !More
We ate lunch here having walked from Walmer castle It was very busy so fortunate we had booked Food was very good , possibly more restaurant than “pub grub “
A big thanks to Chris and his team for a fantastic meal last night, celebrating a family birthday. We shared starters of whipped goats cheese, which was beautifully presented with radishes and radicchio along with delicious dockers bread. Our mains, comprising the hot smoked salmon...and fish and chips were excellent. Great service from the attentive team really made the evening, with Paul's rendition of Happy Birthday to my mother in law the perfect end to the night.More
Best thing about the Zetland is the location. Have eaten here before and the food has been good, this time it was not so good. Wanted a sandwich but they didn't do any( they used to before) so ordered the ploughman's at £16.00. Couldn't believe...it when it arrived one triangle of cheese, few odd bits of salad and some sort of meat terrine there was also two tiny pieces of bread. Probably the whole thing was worth about £5.00. If we do go back we won't be eating.More
The Zetland has been a choice of pub for my family for over 25 years, especially to stop after a long walk, we have drinks and often food. The last 2 times I have been more than disappointed. The first time, just after they had...changed hands, the electric tills had not been installed, and, because the staff could not add up? I was overcharged by nearly £3 for 2 drinks, I decided this was a genuine mistake, and gave them another chance. This last time I had a diet coke, from a pump, so not a large glass, it was £3.50! I then decided I'd have a pink gin and tonic, my husband went to the bar and automatically paid by card, so didn't particularly take note of how much the 2 drinks cost, just thought it was a bit steep. I decided that one gin wasn't enough to go with my tonic, so he went back to the bar for me, and bought a single. When he returned he said the gin had cost £5.50 disgraceful!!!! I double checked and was told this was the correct price, and tonic was extra. The gin wasn't Gordon's, in my opinion not as good as Gordons, but even if the bottle had cost them £30, (Gordons would have cost £20), the PROFIT on just that one bottle of gin would be over £190!!!. I'm not sure how they think they'll keep their local custom considering there are 2 other decent pubs in the village. Looking at other recent reviews, I suggest that they get their act together, too late to regain my families and friends custom, but maybe to save the pub!More
Beautiful venue on the beach. Our anniversary. Husband ordered potted shrimp with some crab on the side for me, and willing to pay for two meals, potted shrimp and the extra crab as our anniversary. He ordered mussels. My potted shrimp tiny tiny, ramekin full...of greasy gloop topped with 1/2 inch of liquid grease, with a few shrimps on top. Ordered extra salad, the croutons burned and solid. His mussels in tasteless liquor with strips of leek…very odd. Cost £35. Very disappointing. The bread was nice. Such a shame.More
We went back to the Zetland for lunch and I had a Ploughman’s lunch and I wife had a grilled chicken sandwich with shoestring fries. Well, mine was like a child’s portion, with salad dressing, 2 small pieces of cheese, silver onions and the smallest...pieces of bread. The grilled chicken sandwich came in a small baguette with a pile of curly chips/crisp things. Both were off their beach menu. Not impressed at all or value for moneyMore
I had the Zetland Burger. Tasted good but quite small for the price. Chips were ok but again not a massive portion. Wife had the chicken paillard with salad. The chicken was tasty enough but the salad just consisted of some lettuce leaves, a very...small amount of cabbage and dressing. For £15 I’d expect something a bit more substantial. Coffee after was served in paper cups. They said this was because we was sitting outside, but we was literally right outside the front door of the pub and everyone was drinking beer from glasses so not sure why we couldn’t have coffee in a proper coffee cup. Very poor. Coffee was nice but not hot. Gypsy Tart for pudding was nice, but a tiny slice. For £7 I’d expect a bit more. Place is over priced for what you get. Positives- really friendly staff and lovely location.More
Menu changed not good for the price Drink so expensive too. Food used to be e delish but not anymore. Will not going there again 😞
