Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We do not eat out very often due to finances but when we d we like to feel we are getting quality. Every time we eat here we love the quality. I had a burger with pineapple and bacon and it really was good. I...believe it's from the local butcher. My wife had a roast (beef) and she was happy with the quality and the portion size. The staff are excellent and always make sure everything is ok. It's a treat for us to go out for lunch and this really was a lovely way to start our Christmas. 10/10 - again!More

A really nice Sunday Lunch in a village pub. They had a nice selection of meats available, alongside their traditional menu. The pub was busy, but the staff were attentive and the food was really good. Will eat there again.

Called in on Quiz night and they fitted us in. We had vegetable lasagna and curry. Both were very tasty, followed by cheesecake and Alabama fudge cake. Yummy

We always visit the Kings Head on our annual visit to Kingsdown, and were not disappointed with our recent visits. Traditional pub, friendly staff, good selection of ales and excellent home-cooked food. They have an interesting range of specials, in addition to their standard menu,...and great choices for vegans. And the real chips are not to be missed.More

We visit this lovely family owned freehouse often as we love the food and atmosphere. The menu caters for a range of tastes, and you should keep an eye out for the specials. The Landlord's special fish and chips is a particular treat, showing real...vision in the kitchen. There is a great variety of drinks on offer, and you can buy a tasting sample of the ales without the need to buy blind, which I see as a great idea. There is a good selection of wines which are well priced, unlike the eye-watering prices experienced at some other establishments in the area.More

A pretty pub, if a bit pokey, with a small, dark, outside rear garden with skittles. It’s a free house, so we thought we’d have an ale, or two. I had Gadds No 5. Very nice. She wanted to taste the Gouchers as we’re unfamiliar...with that beer. The management wanted 50 pence to try it! What? Won’t be going there again. Poor service ethic.More

We were in Kingsdown on a camping holiday and took refuge in the pub as the evenings were so cold! Well, we had a wonderfully warm welcome here. The first night we were invited to join in the pub quiz, which was good fun. Then...we decided to come back another night for dinner, that was a good decision. Again, the staff were lovely and the food was amazing, fish cakes and home-cooked chips with a generous portion of salad. Hubby had fish and chips and cleared his plate in no time. A good choice of beer too. All this in a traditional pub atmosphere. Highly recommended.More

We were down in Kent seeing our Grandchildren ( 4 & 7 )and for the first time staying at a Chalet in Kingsdown rather than a Premier Inn. At 5.50pm we phoned and asked if they could do dinner for 7 with two young children....We were there by 6.05pm, service could not have been better excellent food and great local beers. Will definitely go there next time we are down that way.More

We booked a table for two & mentioned we were bringing our dog. On arrival they had set a table aside which was just what we wanted as our dog can become nervous. We had a Sunday lunch with generous portions & it tasted great....Highly recommend the home made bread & butter pudding. Service was friendly & excellent. It is also a proper traditional pub.More

We called in to the lovely quaint original pub for a Sunday lunch. The atmosphere was delightful, such friendly staff. As for the Sunday Roast. Wow! Probably the best Sunday lunch we have had locally. Fresh vegetables, plenty of meat (and gravy) and crispy roast...potatoes . Delicious, and excellent value for money. Will definitely be returning .More

My mother and I came down for our second Sunday lunch in a row. Mum has the Cajun Chicken and I had the Roast Lamb. Both well presented and delicious. Make a reservation though. Every table was reserved and the landlord, who we both know...well, advised us that it would be very busy by 4pm. Well worth the drive here, after which you can walk your meal off by walking down to the beach and back! Do it! I dare you!More
