Really wanted to like this place - l love barbecue - but it let me down 2 or 3 times and I won't go back. Ordered ribs each time and each time I was let down.

Service was pretty good.. polite server, who was friendly and attentive. but the food... mediocre, at best.... we had a big sampler platter.... everything was reheated.... tasted like BBQ you might buy in a freezer case at a supermarket.. pulled chicken was inedible. best part of lunch was the giant Mason jar glasses. The last time I ate at a... More

Food was mediocre at best. Not the best ribs but my husband enjoyed his burger. Waitress was very good. If you are looking for a good rib place I would say this isn't it.

There are not too many options available in Kearney for a quick sit down lunch. We had never tried Skeeter Barnes while passing through and were eager to have some BBQ. The BBQ itself was decent; we had the pulled pork and beef brisket, yet the service was incredibly slow and poor. I asked repeatedly for the hot BBQ sauce... More

We saw Skeeter Barnes as we drove around looking for a hotel. It is a cute building so we decided give it a try. It's a bbq place so the atmosphere is casual and the staff is friendly. I had the bbq chicken sandwich with homemade macaroni and cheese and my husband had the prime rib sandwich with garlic mashed... More

The half slab of ribs presented well and practically fell off the bone. Sauce did not come on the meat which was great as I prefer to add the milder one and my husband preferred the hotter sauce. Pulled pork was also very good. Sides of mac and cheese, sweet potato chips, potato salad, and happy mushrooms were all very... More

Pulled pork nachos were the beginning of a great lunch here. Tempted by several lunch items but ended up having pulled pork and brisket with mac and cheese and pulled pork sandwich with fries. All very good. Death by chocolate cake would have been enough for four--we took lots of it home!
