Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a wonderful restaurant serving truly lovely food. We had the Menu Surprise and the food was delicious having freshness, colour and multitude of textures/flavours at a price/quality that we have never seen in Switzerland. This price/quality also went for the excellent wine selection...that was expertly selected and explained by Rogerio. The ambiance and exceptional service was warm and friendly yet without pomp and pretention - you can just relax here, enjoy the meal and not worry if you have taken the right fork. We wholeheartedly recommend.More

We had a very nice dinner at Cafe de Riex. Easy to book a table (phone). Service was good and pleasant. We all decided to go for the Menu Surprise from the chef. Everything was delicious, main course portion a bit small though. Good selection...of wine, specially from the region.More

To reach this café you need to take the scenic wine route among terraced vineyards to the village of Riex overlooking Lake Geneva. At the first sight, the café looks modest – a midsized room with just a few wooden tables next to a glass-enclosed...kitchen. A door leads to a dining room with windows providing a view of the Alps on the other side of the lake. For lunch, we were shown the available dishes on a portable blackboard. We decided to stay with local wines and were surprised that the choice Calamin Grand Cru was supplied by the glass. The house foie gras was exquisite and the Norwegian trout was accompanied by a sauce that went well with the fish. This café serves gourmet cuisine well adapted to the local white and red wines.More

Two years ago when we were in Lausanne, we found an amazing restaurant in the Lavaux wine region in the small town of Riex. This restaurant, Café de Riex, has a superb chef, Peter Hasler, and an amazing waiter/host, Rogerio, with perhaps 30 seats in...the cafe, and another 4-6 in the entry (for overflow walk-ins). We had lunch (12 noon to 3 pm, a single seating). There's only one seating. As you will see in the photos, the food is magnificent. Creative, flavorful, exquisite presentations and (thanks to Rogerio) readily paired with fine wine from the region. As we departed, happy and content, both Chef Hasler and Rogerio bid us a fond farewell. Extraordinary kindness and hospitality extended to us, on only our second (but I assure you, not our last) visit to Café de Riex.More

The atmosphere at Cafe de Riex is great. The small family like restaurant has a cosy setting with a great view of lake Geneva. Roger, who took care about us through the whole evening is the best. He even served our kids and took great...care to have also the smallest guest comfortable and enjoying the evening. The food is amazing. We didn‘t spend a lot of time going through the menue... Roger advised us on the menue. It was perfect. From starter to desert all good!More

We stumbled over this restaurant because the restaurant we we’re planning on visiting was (luckiky!!!!!) fully booked. We spent 10 days in Switzerland and this was the place we loved the most. The food was really something different, perfectly cooked and prepared. Our waiter, Roger(his...name is actually something else, but I have no idea how to spell it) is one of the most helpful and caring waiter I’ve ever met. His passion for his work is something everyone should have. English was perfect! He explained and translated the menu(which was in french) and he recommended us to try the 3 course surprise meny, I was doubting, but my friend wanted to give it a go - so we did. AND THANK YOU!!!! Best food experience in the whole Switzerland. A bit pricy, but totally worth it. Would definitely go back if I have the chance. I see now this review is too long, but seriously - if you have the chance - GO!More

I have eaten here a number of times in the last year. Every time the meals have been fabulous. The food is local and fresh and meticulously prepared. It is obvious how much care and time goes into the dishes. The service could not be...better. It is in a beautiful small village with a view that is fitting for a postcard. I can not recommend this place more highly. If you go once, it will not be your last time!More

Worth coming from Lausanne. Great staff, welcoming and takes time to explain their menu and even translate stuff. Food was really good. The pumpkin soup (courge) was just top notch plus the bourse aux champignons (mushrooms) was special and good. We tried the duck and...fish. Both plates were presented well, side vegis were delicious and the sauces were good. Local wine was good too.More

We were following one of the walking routes in Lavaux which coincidentally took us past this restaurant and as the setting looked nice (- and the membership of "Chaine des Rôtisseurs" gave some assurance of standing) we decided to have a small lunch. We will...certainly come back with bigger hunger another time as the ability of the kitchen was remarkable. Menu is elaborate, dishes are classics with a twist, solid in size and produce is not just super fresh but clearly chosen with a care that only a very capable chef can do. Absolutely everything was made from scratch - no short cuts. Wondering what was going on here in this little place, we read some magasines lying around and discovered that the place is in fact owned and run by Peter Hasler, a former 2 Michelin star chef, who decided to leave the star-race. What a surprise! Refreshing to get this kind of competence applied to classical cuisine. Wine list was very inspiring too, with some exciting wines of the region by the glass. This place is not cheap, but the price to quality far outperforms 90% of the restaurants in the region and prices are fully in line with median Geneva levels. Thank you for having made our Sunday! Highly recommended!More

What a quaint bistro and restaurant. Carefully prepared starters of amongst other choices, mushrooms in a pouch of puff pastry, An excellent terrine, and scallops. Main courses to satisfy all needs including fish, meat or risotto. Deserts varied and very tasty. Excellent and very friendly...service. One piece of advice. The bistro area is fine for up to 4 guests per table. For more, best to reserve in advance in the main dining area. Reservations a few days in advance is advisable in any circumstances. Public Parking is available just before entering the village - a five minute walk Which is more than welcome after a fine meal.More
