Very warm welcome. We opted to sit in the outside area but were invited in should we change our minds as the whole pub is dog friendly. We had the vegetarian burger which was really tasty and served with hot crisp chips and a side salad. Great value. The waitress was attentive and friendly. Our dog was happily welcomed and enjoyed a few biscuit treats ☺️

My wife and I called today on the off chance there would be a spare table for Sunday Lunch as we were passing, we could see all Tables had reserved signs on them but asked just in case. The owner/landlady was brilliant, very accommodating and really wanted to help us and found us a lovely cozy table by the fire. We had starters and the Sunday Lunch which was Amazing. We will definitely make the effort to come here again even though we live in Ammanford, so a little out of our way.

Eight of us met up for a family reunion. Lovely meal, so much choice I settled for turkey dinner with all trimmings - delicious! Staff were so helpful and attentive (even provided a doggie (well fox) bag for one of us who couldn't manage whole meal. We meet here about 4 times a year and will be back!

We had four lovely meals at The New Tredegar Arms on our 4 day break in the area. During our stay we had 3 days of rain but the Tredegar gave us a perfect end to each day with a warm welcome and good food at a fair price. We would definitely recommend this pub. Thank you. Colin

I took my elderly mum to have lunch there today and we were very impressed with the welcome, cleanliness, service and quality of the meals. My mother has only been out a few times since March, due to covid, so we were both quite apprehensive about eating out for the first time in months. No need to worry as all covid safety measures were in place and we felt safe whilst there. We were greeted and served within a few minutes, plenty of choice on the menus and also the opportunity to choose a lighter, smaller meal that was reasonably priced. I chose a chicken curry which was one of the tastiest I have eaten and mum chose a plaice that was light and moist. She enjoyed it. We paid £15 for the meals and soft drinks, good value for quality food, presentation and service. We would recommend this place and hopefully will return with the whole family when permitted. Diolch yn fawr Y New Tredegar.

Firstly this pub is beautiful set in a really nice location and inside is the right mix of traditional with a modern twist. The staff are superb and service is all round very good. However I must say the food is average, not sure how it gets such high ratings. We ordered 5 meals, the only standout meal was the chill con carne, spaghetti Bolognese and lasagna weren't particularly good and the kids chicken bite meal was your usual frozen chicken nuggets, actually thought they may of been homemade, as the chips too we thought surely they'll be homemade but definitely frozen bought chips when we visited. Overall not a terrible place to eat, like I say pubs lovely and very welcoming but food isn't anything special.

What fabulous evening we had! Took family from Australia who were visiting alone with my husband and daughter. The food was just fabulous especially the homemade pie which both the men had. Neither could believe they had a whole gravy boat of wonderful homemade gravy to themselves. The pie itself was deep and made with shortcrust pastry - a lovely change from puff. The fish and chips, chilli and pulled pork burger were good but the pie was the star of the show! We were very well looked after at all times without feeling we were being pestered and being checked on that everything was ok as often is the case. In fact so good we’ve already rebooked for when we have our next lot of visitors. Such a lovely welcoming landlady how could we not? Already looking forward to it. Thank you

Lovely traditional pub with good food, the flat iron steak was cooked to perfection and lots of extras on the plate. My partner had the fish which was delicious. We were here on holiday visiting friends and had a lovely time in the pub. The young guy on the bar was great but I didn't catch his name, sorry.

Called in today (Sunday) with no reservation. Great welcome for my wife and I and our Jack Russell. We both had the roast beef lunch. It came with a very generous portion of beef and a nice selection of beautifully cooked vegetables. Much nicer than a carvery when sometimes veg can be standing for a long time. Although made in a commercial kitchen at the pub it tasted like the best sort of home cooked Sunday lunch that you'd get at home. Delicious gravy. Unbelievable value at just £6.95 each. Washed down with a lovely Shiraz.

Booked here for 9 adults and 3 children. We arrived an hour early and the landlady was very nice and told us to take a seat by the fire while they were getting our table ready. We all sat down and ordered the Sunday lunch. The food was very nice and the place was lovely and homely. Perfect for a winters day. The only let down was a young male waiter / bartender. He was very rude. Two of the children were walking about after food looking at the decor around the place. The bartender very rudely said “keep your kids under control” we told the children to sit back down and they did. Just before leaving one of the children and his father went to the toilet. The bartender shouted “where is he going” we told him they were going to the toilet, then he carried on serving someone. We all found this very embarrassing and made us feel uncomfortable. So we paid the bill and left. We found him very rude and unwelcoming to the children. It’s such a shame as the place and the food was lovely. Unfortunately that member of staff has put us as a family off going back there again.

Hi Emm, Thanks for the lovely review of our establishment. As for the Bartender, I can see the children were running the length of the pub, at full speed past 3 tables of customers who were eating their lunch at the time. They did so 9/10 times until someone at your table asked them to sit down. I have just reviewed the CCTV footage for a second time, I cannot match up the information you have given with what I've seen I'm afraid. I can also see that the bartender didn't once engage the children or your whole table in conversation whilst this was occurring. Children running around whilst food is being served and hot plates are being carried by staff isn't appropriate or safe for anyone involved. So i am a little disappointed that the barman didn't engage yourselves to ask that the children be seated for their own safety. The bartender did pass on a message from the last gentleman who came to pay, about how grateful your party was that we were able fit you all in at such short notice and how lovely all the food was with a "see you soon" to top it off.

We had lunch on Saturday- one lasagne, one steak & chicken and I had faggots with chips, veg and gravy. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and I hove to say it was the best, ‘ home-cooked’ meal I have had out in quite a while. It was so tasty! Mm .. I can honestly recommend this place, the service was good and the staff very pleasant.

We’ve just had a lovely evening meal at the New Tredegar. It was our first chance to visit The Hotel as it’s known locally since it reopened after lockdown. It s been attractively done out and Is well spaced. A good balance of a warm and friendly Welsh welcome -as always at the Tredegar- and spot on Covid precautions. We both chose the chef’s special of delicious lamb shank, which fell off the bone, served with a rich mint gravy and fresh veg including sweet potato mash. A lovely atmosphere, it was good to be back again. Diolch am y croeso.

I’d finished day 2 of the nearby ‘BMW off-road skills’ course and hadn’t thought to book a room for that night, thinking I could ride home afterwards. I was hot, thirsty and needed a good rest and a bed for the night. I struggled to find anywhere but paid the New Tredegar a visit after a tip off from one of the chaps on the same BMW course. Thankfully, there was indeed a room free and I was welcomed in by Steve the owner. I was invited to park my motorbike securely in his own private driveway - and this was most welcome. I’m sure the car park across the road would have been fine but you never know! Steve is an enthusiastic biker himself and warmly welcomes bikers. Nice. The staff were also very welcoming and friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. Whilst I had entertained the idea of walking to find a curry house in Ystalfera, I decided to stay put for Cod n chips! Very nice it was too after a day of eating dust on the motorbike course. I toddled off to bed at 9:30 but on the way caught Steve in the bar! Spent the rest of the evening enjoying an interesting chat with him and his wife until gone 11pm. It made a solo stopover a smashing evening! A most enjoyable stay in a lovely pub/hotel. Many thanks!

This was the second time we have stayed with the Rees Family and couldn’t have been more welcomed back. The food, drinks and very friendly staff together with the warm welcome from the locals made for a brilliant weekend. Our ride out to the coast on Sunday taking in Saundersfoot and others was breath taking. Once again Steve (motorbike mechanic extraordinaire)had to assist me with my slipping clutch whilst Stefan brought us cups of tea and coffee. Altogether a wonderful weekend and can’t wait until the next time. Many thanks, The Boys from Manchester.

Simply put, the staff were not nice. Nor were they helpful. I attended with my mother and aunt for a birthday lunch. The owner was there. The Waitress appeared to be new and inexperienced. I did not want chips with my sandwich. I asked for coleslaw instead. Turned out that the sandwich came with coleslaw anyway. I wasn't told this when I requested that it replace the chips. I was however charged £2.50 for the coleslaw as a 'side dish'. When I was queried this, it was clear that it was not negotiable. I asked for warm milk with my coffee. Again, I was told that I could have only cold milk. All in a very matter of fact and cool manner. Nothing about eating here was pleasant. The food was average. The owner was inhospitable. Not a quality in the hospitality sector.
