Lovely home cooked food that is delicious. This is the best in the area right now. Sometimes a bit of a wait but it’s always worth it. Dog friendly too. Rachel & Daniel work really hard to bring you best quality food - thank you...it’s appreciated! 😋More
For my sister’s 60th birthday I ordered an afternoon tea for 6 people to takeaway and enjoy in the garden with some family. Rachel was so helpful and accommodating and every bit of the food was exquisite. This is the third or fourth time we...have used this service and it has always been 100% reliable and quality. Thank you.More
This place is amazing, I’m so glad it’s local to me! The staff are so lovely, even when they are understaffed, your are still served with a smile and they regularly check if everything is ok. Nothing is a problem here, they cater for allergies...and intolerances with ease and reassurance. The afternoon tea is INCREDIBLE 🤤, it’s really good value, presented beautifully and of course…delicious. It’s that good I’ve had 3 afternoon teas here this year 🤭🐷. I have a gluten allergy and they cater for this with ease, I have pretty much exactly what the “normal” afternoon tea is and never feel left out. It’s always so fresh, and the scones …served warm, and irresistible. We’ve had take out from here too and spoilt the mums to afternoon tea. Cosy relaxed atmosphere, they are always busy so it’s a nice chatty casual environment. Thank you for all your hard work, it’s a real gem xMore
I have become a regular visitor to this restaurant. It is charming but a little chilly in the depths of winter. Don't let that put you off, they have a wood-burning stove and heaters plus blankets available if needed. The food is excellent and so...is the service.More
This was my first visit whilst on a cycle ride with a buddy. It is a regular stop for many cycling group rides so I was keen to see it for myself on a cold foggy day in November. It has a nice atmosphere and...can be very busy so beware it is not always easy getting a table and the service suffers as a result. I enjoyed a large pot of tea and a cake (plenty of choice) whilst my friend had a coffee and bacon and egg roll. The prices seem reasonable considering everywhere seems to be raising prices regularly to keep up with inflation and heating costs. I will certainly return with my wife to try a different choice of food.More
This is one of our regular haunts. Nearly every time the food is good ,plentiful and worth coming again for. In Winter it may be a little chilly in some places but for most of the time it is a brilliant place to go to...especially in Summer. Never had the afternoon tea but it looks fabulous, Nice staff and good service.More
Well worth passing the usual venues on the A5 if you are in the area for some quality food at reasonable prices, excellent service and clearly by the number of tables occupied a popular choice .. we were directed upstairs as the ground floor was...full! Although the wood burner was in operation downstairs the upstairs was not cold. What a change to have some tasty coffee and we both enjoyed our Paninis, in our case Fish Finger & Tartare Sauce and Tuna with Cheese, sharing a portion of chips. Salad accompaniment could not be faulted, hot chips and we took away a portion of the Blueberry Cake - most enjoyable!More
I ordered tea and chocolate cake this afternoon. It was a whole cake and had not yet been cut into. It looked very tasty. When it arrived on the plate I was surprised how greasy it looked. I couldn't carry on eating it. It was...like a sponge cake soaked in oil. I went indoors and asked the waitress if it has been cooked using oil? She replied that it had. It was in the recipe. On further enquiry I discovered that the other cakes had been baked using butter. The waitress wasn't at all bothered when I said I didn't like the cake. Won't be returning!More
Visited today for lunch. The food was excellent as always but was not an enjoyable experience to it being so cold in the barn. Usually the woodburner is going but not today. Customers were all sitting in their coats. I remarked to the waitress how...cold it was as. Yes it is she said. Think we will wait till warmer weather till we return.More
With the closure of Jack's Hill Café, Towcester, we took it upon ourselves to ride our two Velocettes and one BSA to Upper Stowe, near Weedon. What a delight. In marked contrast to the archetypical 1950s transport café, this was a high quality breakfast with...lovely coffees and hot chocolate. It may have been cold and very damp as we rode back to Towcester, Pury End and Whittlebury, but we all felt is was a worthwhile visit.More
The Old Dairy Farm Centre is a place I've visited a few times - a great place to find good quality and, frequently, unique gifts, set in a converted farmyard in the lovely Northamptonshire countryside. It has a charming, rustic feel but is entirely modern...in terms of its business and facilities. The same might be said of The Barn Restaurant, which forms part of the complex. It is cosy, inviting and friendly. Prices are fairly standard. I noted that there have been some comments about the speed of service. Admittedly, it's not lightning-quick but then I don't feel it's the sort of place you'd expect to attract people on-the-go, who can't wait a few minutes here and there. It's a homely café in a rural crafts centre, for goodness' sake, not a business-lunch hotspot in the city. There is a good, varied menu including snacks, breakfasts, sandwiches/toasties, baked potatoes and other hot lunches. There is an impressive array of homemade cakes available. I have actually eaten here a number of times and have tried a cross-section of the above. All have been of good quality, generous and nicely presented. The chorizo hash with crushed potatoes and roasted veg. that I ate on the most recent occasion was absolutely delicious. The cakes are quite inventive and outstandingly good too. I also appreciate the fact that the tea is served to you in a pot with a proper bone-china cup and saucer but the design of each is entirely mix-and-match. A modest quirk, perhaps, but I'm sure I'm not the only one easily enough pleased to enjoy it. All in all, I'd say that The Barn is, perhaps, rather more impressive in terms of food than you might expect from a cafe in this kind of setting. Highly recommended.More
We had booked a table for 11am but arrived a little early. We were offered the choice of eating inside or outside. We chose to eat inside. We ordered 3 large breakfasts, pancakes with fruit and a pot of tea for four. The tea arrived...and then nothing happened for about half an hour. We asked where our breakfasts were and were told there is only one person in the kitchen and he is dealing with a backlog of orders, it didn't seem particularly busy to us. Why didn't someone come and explain this to us instead of us having to ask? When the food arrived it was very good however I asked for my eggs to be fried until the yolk was well and truly set they didn't manage this.More
I don’t like to write this but me and my husband went Saturday for the second time just for a pot of tea for two and was really disappointed the first time it was fine . Asked for pot of tea for two the pot...was to big filled to the top with two tea bags in it was so weak there were stains on the tea pot drips down the lid spout etc the tea spoons were stained with tea obviously yes very disappointed as we had heard good reviews should of complained there and then but just left £4 50 wasted !!!! Won’t go back sorryMore
I visited for a cup of tea and cake this morning to be greeted politely by a young lady and she allowed me to sit where ever I wished I was politely spoken throughout my visit I also ordered some chocolate cake, which I could...tell immediately was handmade, soft silky and light on the tongue. The icing to would satisfy those that don’t like too much and those who like lots of icing, it was dead in the middle.More
