Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I grew up in the area and this place was certainly a staple but they consistently decline to serve takeout when the dining room is busy. Yes - you read that right - they refuse business as opposed to saying it may take longer than usual. This type of "can't do it" attitude is why I moved away from the area, which has long been in decline ever since the mill in Berlin closed.

If you are looking for more traditional fare, this is not your place. If you are looking for American style Japanese food, this is it. The service is warm and friendly. The restaurant is clean and well lit. The food is good. What more can you ask for?

The cheesecake was amazing and the food was delicious. The waitress was very friendly as well. This was our first time here and we’d return again.

I understand it’s a small town and help is hard to find right now but I wish we had gone to a different location for dinner. The fried rice was horrible and I could not eat it. The main dish was swimming with sauce and looked like canned veggies. Bland flavors. Disappointed as we hoped to have a good meal. Customer service was not great - went long periods of time between check ins.

I grew up in this town and this restaurant has been here for 50 years. Founded by a wonderful Japanese lady, Tazaru. She offered a menu to appeal to the taste of American loggers and mill workers in the 1960s. The menu is much the same, and the food tastes the same! Now run by Taz's daughter, the restaurant is a must-visit for locals, those who have moved from the area return here every visit. It is a unique restaurant with unique food. Ask the waitstaff what the locals like to eat here. And drink here, very nice Mai Tais! I recommend the Kushi Katu with the Bulldog sauce on the side as an appetizer.

Oh my goodness! What a great meal! Haven't been in years! It was so good! Yokohama Ramen was amazing! The pork fried rice was beyond amazing! And the Kushi appetizers! I wanted to order more just to bring home! The Mai Tai was great too! So glad the quality is the same! Keep doing great things! Thank you for a wonderful meal!

We chose outdoor dining in this time of coronavirus. The round tables were over 8 ft apart even with people sitting at tables! Waitress wore masks. Service was great, food was perfect , price reasonable. Absolutely love Their Kushi Katu and sweet n sour pork.

Chef Ramsey would rip this place apart. Every thing we got, alot of food, was discusting. Went there very hungry and left there pretty much the same. Greasy tasteless junk food. Anyone that thinks that this is good food pretty much will need a bypass surgery soon.

The menu needs much clarification from the waitstaff. Our waiter really sold the food. By her description I was excited to order! And then the actual food was delivered.... the soup - dark, salty, full of overcooked noodles with A (1) pea pod and about a tablespoon of julienned pork. Not very good. The Yaka Soba is really just lo mein with no flavor. The egg rolls were ok, not much filling inside. The green pepper ribs, wasn't ribs at all. It was chopped up pork that had a strange flavor. That rice people are mentioning, overcooked, no flavor. All in all, it wasn't anything that would make you sick. The restaurant is clean.

All I can say is the soup was good , it went downhill from there , the fried rice was gummy and seemed to have been reheated . I had the sweet and sour chicken and it was unlike any that I have had before and not in a good way . My wife chose the Yaki soba and was not thrilled . Overall not a good time .

Went north for a funeral for a friend, and stopped in (of coarse) for a bite. Great Mai-Tai's, as usual, and very, very good meal. Kushi to start, and then fried rice, and Shrimp Kew. Everything was great, from the greeting, to the server, to the kitchen people. We go here every time we are in the area. It's too bad some "visitors" to the area are expecting soy laden rice, and overcooked MSG selections. There is no comparison... This place is based on authentic Japanese home recipe's, not corporate selections...

The fried scallop dinner is one of my favorites here. They are freshly battered in panko then fried to perfection. I always get fried rice instead of fries or white rice and love the side of green beans. Comes with a side salad with delicious dressing and a roll. Hubby loves the osoba soup and chicken popsicles. Never had a bad meal here, it's always served fresh and tasty.

It is what it is. Only thing that resembles Japanese/Chinese is the decor. Another review mentioned the rice and a weird flavor. Something definitely up with it. My "packed scoop" of rice was mushy and i couldn't get a forkful down. Great service, but just don't see how it gets anything over 2 stars.
