Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The food was excellent. Great seafood ( crab cake appetizer, seafood chowder), good salads (house and caesar), great steaks (ribeye and filet mignon), and tasty desserts (brownie sundae and chocolate cake). Our server was great. A very pretty restaurant with a beautiful view. Expensive though....$179 for 2, before tip, and that was with no drinks.More

We had high hopes based upon reviews on this platform and on yelp. Maybe they were having a bad night. We were seated after waiting 40 minutes we were given menus immediately upon being seated, but we didn’t see our waitress until 15 minutes after...we were seated at that point we knew exactly what we wanted to drink and what we wanted to order so we placed our order upon that inital encounter. Sorry to say that our cocktails did not come out until the middle of our meal that was after having appetizers.! the reason was they couldn’t find a martini glass so they gave me my drink in a rocks glass with a whole bunch of ice. Needless to say quite watered down. I would’ve preferred to have a glass of wine with my maid meal. My husband ordered haddock or cod, and it came out, cold and seasoned with nothing but paprika it was as if they took the piece of fish out of the freezer, barely cooked it. Nothing was imaginative about that meal, I ordered salmon which was overdone but could’ve been quite tasty. The standard mixed vegetables that came with every meal strangely was the best thing we ate. I think the kicker for me was the lack of awareness from the wait staff. How do you let your drink order not go out first and not even with the appetizer? It was not even busy and while I understand being short staffed the lack of awareness was sad. Beautiful location and had a spectacular view of a sunset but that was the only thing we enjoyed.More

The atmosphere was great and the view breathtaking. I was turned off by the hostess. We arrived 5 minutes early for our reservation on Wednesday evening and the hostess' attitude left much to be desired. We walked up and told her we were 5 minutes...early. She made us wait to be seated till our 6:15 time slot. I asked for a window and she said she only had one in the corner. It was her delivery that was off putting. I saw the table from the door and it was empty and clean. Why did she need to make us wait? A small thing but very off putting. Also, I would expect that the hostess, the person who makes the first impression would look and act professionally and cordially. She and the other hostess were standing there discussing restaurant business and I felt like I was intruding. While this restaurant is very picturesque and the food is ok its not a white table cloth restaurant. I will say our server perfunctory but made up for the less than welcoming person at the door. I had fish and my husband had steak tips. The fish was a little over cooked but the vegetables which accompanied it were fantastic. I got a salad and it too was pretty much run of the mill. I wished it was a white table cloth restaurant much like Wentworth by the Sea in Newcastle. It gave off the same vibes but not the same hospitality. The view is worth the trip but, our meal was average and honestly the less than warm greeting cast a pall over the whole experience.More

Strolled in to meet the wife Friday evening for drinks and grab a bite. Greeted by a welcoming staff at the bar, Al and Eric wasted no time in getting us settled and provided interesting food and beverage options. It would be accurate to say...that the atmosphere and views from Ledges are hard to beat and set the tone for a nice time. Now add to that an outstanding culinary experience and all the boxes get checked. We started with the Salmon Pate which was presented beautifully and was WOW, our main course was Broiled Haddock and Pan Seared Salmon, all creative and perfectly prepared, ending with House Made Apple Strudel.....the final surprise. When I commented to our server that we had an amazing meal from beginning to end he mentioned that a new Executive Chef was fine tuning the kitchen and changing things up. Our timing couldn't have been better. Our compliments to the Chef, Al and Eric and all who made for a memorable evening.More

The atmosphere was fine and the staff were great. The wine list impressive. Unfortunately the food was lackluster. My husband and I went to Ledges on a Friday for my birthday dinner. We opted for the seafood feast but started off with the garlic infused...fried cheese curds which were amazing. The Mediterranean style seafood soup was not what I expect so that was on me. A little too salty and thick, more like a tomato puree rather than a broth, but my husband finished it. The Mini Raw Bar was perfect. My entrée was the Orange Ginger Diver Scallops with caramelized onion risotto. The ginger orange sauce was a little thick and way too sweet to go with the naturally sweet scallops, certainly did not seem like a fresh squeezed orange juice reduction, and there was very little evidence of ginger. The risotto was gummy and undercooked rather than being creamy and the onions were not cooked long enough to be caramelized. The Portuguese mussels were tasty, if the chorizo was ground versus cured and sliced, it would have elevated it. My husband was very disappointed with the broiled seafood platter. For something so simple, it was dry and lacked flavor that could have easily have been corrected with a bigger 'touch' of the wine/butter sauce and some seasoning added to the breadcrumbs. We won't likely go back for dinner, but perhaps appetizers and a nice bottle of wine, would like to give their brunch a try.More

We periodically take a ride looking for somewhere we’ve not been. This spot looked nice, had positive reviews. We were looking forward to dining along with the views. The Ledges web page showed well and described the menu, Sunday Brunch etc. we drove over from...the Lincoln Woodstock area to enjoy a ride across The Kanc and enjoy lunch. We arrived at 2:30 and were greeted by a very nice young lady working the bar. We told her we were there for lunch and would like a table for four. Her reply was “ we don’t serve food for the month of November “ Really ? I replied. I asked her why that was not noted anywhere. I told her we had driven quite some distance to enjoy lunch. She said she would report my feelings to a manager. I told her thank you for that and the Ledges certainly weren’t customer friendly. Now, I understand especially since Covid how difficult the hospitality business has become. I understand the need to manage expenses, especially during slower times. It is for those reasons we attempt to try new places and be generous to staff. The Ledges web page needs a simple, courteous message to customers alerting them to changed or limited hours. Simple courtesy, not too hard.More
