I had to stop visiting this deli. With lines out the door during the weekend, I thought this would be my "go to" deli but after a few rough encounters behind the counter, I say see ya later. The owners/employees have to take a course...More
I no longer live in NJ, but was back visiting and had to have my Sloppy Joe "fix" - this place has fabulous sloppy joes! I got there at an "off" time and they made some up specially for me - freshly sliced bread, freshly...More
Back in town after 50 years and managed to hit Towne Deli for 4 meals. 5, if you count left-overs. Everyone has a preference, but mine is Towne Deli for Sloppy Joes
I always get their turkey sloppy joe!!! It is the best one I have ever had. They slice their rye bread right before they make the sandwich. So the bread is always fresh. It is just the right thickness. Not too thin but not too...More
Local deli, serving the neighborhood and the local train station. They are off the main drag, so you have to look for them at the end of a dead-end where Springfield Avenue used to cross the railriad. The sandwiches are generous and fresh and the...More
I hear the rave reviews constantly from people in town about how good town deli sloppy joe is....I am hear to say the hype is not deserved ....average at best, compared to avenue deli in new providence....it fails in comparison.

I too have frequented Towne Deli for many years, having grown up in New Providence. In fact, the TD is the goto sandwich/soup supplier for any family occasion and my mother is a 1/2 and 1/2 aholic! Why anyone would go to those crappy franchised...More
I've been going here since 1975, it has changed owners several times, but the sandwiches have always been great. Oh and the homemade iced tea is the best. You have to ask for it, they don't advertise it.
