The service was excellent and the setting lovely, but the food options are bad and it is of course over-priced as I am sure most restaurants of this ilk are. There is a choice of 2 or 3 course meals with about 5 choices for each - starter, main and dessert. My wife ordered hake with a prawn sauce. The... More

Being foodies we really enjoyed Bread and Wine. The food was delicious, and good value for money for us from the UK. The wine was also lovely and service very good. If only we were staying longer in Franschoek, as we would have revisited. I would highly recommend it. We visited as our lunch stop when on a private wine... More

Bread and wine has a beautiful setting. However it is a family restaurant and not suitable for couples on weekends as the kids play next to you in the water and makes such a noise you can't hear each other. The food was okay but not memorable and the service we had on the day was also not great. We... More

Enjoyed a lunch outside in the courtyard on a warm autumn afternoon. Food was good, but nothing spectacular. Service was erratic. Perhaps a little overhyped, and definitely a little on the expensive side for what you get.

Many of our friends had recommended this place and it did not disappoint. The wine was excellent. The bread course comes with yummy spreads (try the pork fat!). I loved the starter plate of charcuterie which they make in house. We didn't love our mains though - my husbands tuna and my steak weren't as amazing as the rest of... More

We were taken out to lunch by friends but I must say although the food and surroundings were good the cost of a two course meal we all thought was way over the top Next door to the main restaurant is another smaller restaurant with more snack type meals which is much more reasonable with equally good food

One of my all time favourite pairings - charcuterie and wine! And the food is simple but stylish, good portion size and moreish! Never disappoints and perfect for lazy summer lunches below the shady trees. Will be back.

There is so much to love about this place- particularly the service, sparkling wine, charcuterie board starter and the soufflé dessert! If you order one thing, make it the charcuterie board starter- it was simply amazing and I doubt I will ever have one as good again. Very generous portion, exceptional selection, well priced and utterly delicious! It is very... More
