Terrible service. Waited an hour for our picnic basket. We had made the reservation a week in advance and we even called in the morning to confirm our reservation. Yet when we arrived no one seemed to have a record of our booking. Staff was disorganised. We spoke to four different individuals each of whom promised to resolve the issue,... More

We have been promising our kids a picnic for ages, and once I booked with the friendly and efficient Elma at Solms Delta Wine Estate, I knew we were in for a good day. We collected our picnic at 12 pm., after tasting some of their wonderful wines. They packed a double basket for me and my husband, and the... More

Fantastic lecture at GIBS led us on a journey to Solms. Food first, then history. Bobotie and chicken pie chased with a cool Chenin Blanc hit the spot. Spring rolls and pineapple cheesecake finished us off. Glorious view setting the backdrop. Tasty, comfort food. The history is much more interesting .... Such a vignette of South Africa and the cosmopolitan... More

56 Birthday lunch, booked by my 21 year old daughter for her dads birthday. Hot day, lots of flies, no citronella candles, had to ask. Did not receive the correct lunch order. Nothing special for birthday boy. Sauces added to food. That said, service was good, wine good and well priced. Just disappointed. Huge group arrived for end year lunch... More

Wine tasting on the veranda followed by lunch. Tasted 5 wines obviously with opportunity to buy to take home. Strange that it was so difficult to actually attract attention to buy one to drink with meal. Bobottie was very nice and milk tart lovely.

I have been to Solms Delta for picnics before and no complaint. My latest visit though was extremely disappointing. The wine tasting prior ro the picnic offered a splash of five wines. (Two of the white wines were luke warm.) We had booked the picnic for 12:00. By 13:00 they were still trying to fill baskets. It seemed like no-one... More

The place was very average and considering that the area of Franschhoek is loaded with fantastic dining options, then this is a mediocre option. But it was the only one we could find open and that did not require reservations on a Sunday. The surroundings and location is beautiful, the menu looks good and the prices are reasonable but the... Setting wise, Fyndraai is a decent little spot to while away a Saturday afternoon. The Kingklip main was fantastic, and reasonably priced for the area. Just a pity that horse stables are situated next door as one spends your lunch swotting away flies. A few strategically placed fly traps would do wonders! Can’t complain about the service once received, but... More

It looked like there was a management table having a menu meeting when we walked in. I went to find a waitress in the kitchen to serve a walk in table of 8 pax. We found a waitress but she disappeared again. Went to fetch our own waters from the barman who was so busy taking stock, he never saw... More

Hooray for sensational South African cuisine! We had an unplanned spoil. Sitting outside alongside field in quiet relaxed atmosphere. You must try smoked snoek spring rolls *share. We feasted on blesbok fillet & herb crusted kingklip. Service friendly & attentive. Thank you chef & team!

Description
Fyndraai is an exciting restaurant with a local twist, on the Solms-Delta wine estate outside Franschhoek. The food, like its adventurous wines, lives up to the Solms-Delta claim of being proudly Hiervandaan (‘from this place’).
You not only walk into history in the 325-year-old wine farm restaurant, you walk OVER it. The glass floor covers the archaeological substructure of a 1740 wine cellar.
