Our party of four enjoyed a delicious dinner with excellent service. We shared the steamed clams and brussels sprouts apps, which were very good. Who woulda thunk to serve brussels sprouts as an app! Caesar salad and house salad were large and nicely done. The halibut special that evening was delicious; I really liked the parsnip puree under the fish... More

We just stopped in for a couple drinks and tried an appetizer each. Atmosphere was nice, and service was great (bar tender very friendly). Appetizers were very good (tried the Brussels sprouts and chile lime chicken wings). We had a couple of their specialty drinks which we also enjoyed. I also had one of their whiskey samplers which was fun.... More

Wow, we had a great meal here on Sunday night. We are still talking about the Brussel Sprouts appetizer. The gnocci and risotto with both excellent as well. The chef did well adjusting the flavors for us vegetarians. It was so delicious that we wanted to come back on Monday evening, but they are closed Mondays.

We've been to Next Door Kitchen & Bar several times now, and each visit solidifies our opinion that this restaurant is one of the finest in the greater Capital Region. I've begun to crave the ambiance just as much as the food, and I never leave disappointed on either front. I'd like to give kudos to barman Chris and server... More

Ballston Spa has a gem of a restaurant in the heart of town! Our server Zack was very informative and attentive. Appetizers and entrees from seafood to a vegetarian dish were absolutely delicious! Dined in their newer addition while enjoying the decor and ambiance.

We treated ourselves last week, after hearing rave reviews from several friends, and we were not disappointed. Our daughter had "The Best Fried Chicken, with pimiento mac & cheese, bacon braised greens, buttermilk biscuit, and apple butter." She said the chicken was fantastic, but she loved the greens most of all. My husband had the Red Snapper special, I don't... More

This was our first time here on Saturday night and it's a good thing we made a reservation. It was our daughter-in-laws birthday so we had all courses. I had the steamed clams in a garlic broth with chorizo sausage and sourdough bread it was excellent (comes in 2 sizes), everyone else had the braised meatballs that got thumbs up.... More

I have dined here previously and found the atmosphere and food to be good. However this list visit was a huge disappointment. The table location and overall restaurant atmosphere are very dependent on the table location. We had a reservation so suggest asking for a table near the back of the restaurant if you want a decent dining experience. The... More

The menu has many unique dishes. I had a tasty gnocchi with cauliflower. Scrumptious! My companion had a cod dish that was nicely done. We split a well seasoned side of brussel sprouts. The focaccia bread and bean dip were good too! Server was attentive. Would go there again, Can't wait to try their happy hour on Sunday.

Description
Next Door Kitchen & Bar shares a love and appreciation of using foods that are fresh, approachable and unique. We pride ourselves on using foods grown in our own garden located on Science Street in Ballston Spa. The site is soil quality tested, supplemented by organic products and composting materials and maintained by ND executive chef and owners. "It's wonderful to get the experience of growing the produce and items that are served to our patrons" states Chef Strom. Owners Matthew Hall and Chris Fignar are thrilled that produce will supplement or wholly source menu items during the summer months. Additionally, the team attempts to serve items grown from local farms and small production vendors. We seek to create dishes that are inspired by traditional comfort food with contemporary flair. The cuisine is unpretentious yet has depth and complexity. Chef Jeffrey Strom brings with him a unique blend of techniques and creativity that sets his food apart. The service is refined and friendly. Our servers are highly knowledgeable regarding the menu items, purveyors, wine list, craft beer selection and offerings of unique cocktails with boutique distill ingredients. Our wine and cocktail lists were created with small production, family owned and sustainable practices in mind. Our unique wine list is in keeping with our mission and offers a fresh approach to impeccable wines. Distilleries chosen reflect our high standards and are local when possible including those from Greenfield, NY and other small batch single pot distilled distilleries. Our craft draught beer selection is strictly New York sourced. Hall states that "with so many outstanding NY craft beers, it was a great opportunity to stay local and offer great craft beers that showcase NY breweries". ND offers only the highest quality products in a comfortable and eclectic atmosphere. We designed a space that is warm and inviting with copper accents, local oil paintings and custom crafted lighting with hand blow glasswork. The newly renovated dining room was designed using locally reclaimed barn wood and barn door pulled from locations in Brandt Lake and Ballston Spa, NY. The barn door was located on Middleline Road and had once been on a barn owned by Hezekiah Middlebrook ; one of the founders of Ballston Spa. Renovations of the restaurant were supported by local construction, glass blower, artisan painters and copper craftsman. The restaurant is a warm and inviting atmosphere with unique touches that make it a perfect neighborhood space to enjoy great food and company.
