I admit that we had three guests who were delayed and the last didn't arrive until 12.20 pm so this did slow down our meal. However, there was a very poor choice on the menu if you didn't like fish and they were unable to make a gravy without onion for my sister who is unable to eat onion. This really shouldn't be a problem as people are aware of allergies and intolerances these day. The fish and chips for the children had broad beans as a vegetable (not children's favourite) and there was no mention of the beans. The horseradish was green in colour and lacking in flavour. The sea bass was tiny. When we had finished our main course, there were insufficient menus for us to order dessert and this meant that there was such a delay that I had to leave the restaurant at 1410 as I had an appointment in Thame. With a bill over £500 we felt very disappointed on what was meant to be a pre-Christmas family get together. Although my grandson was talking loudly, he wasn't getting down from the table or causing a scene. Perhaps this restaurant does not want to serve family groups.

We have been regular diners at The Chequers, always enjoying the excellent food with some inventive twists from the clearly talented chefs, served by some delightful front of house staff. The overall experience is wonderful and good value, given the quality of the dishes and the service provided. We were really looking forward to the recent Austro-Hungarian event and were really impressed. The 6 tasting courses with accompanying wine were superb. Variations on traditional dishes and wines from Countries we had never tried before made for a delightful evening, enhanced by Ferenc, the Hungarian master of ceremonies, who was both witty and informative. Another excellent dining experience at one of our favourite restaurants.

Five stars from me, yet none from Michelin! A truly hidden gem, waiting to be properly recognised.
Passionate, well organised and talented staff, create top quality, Michelin style food, at thus far, affordable prices.
It's been this way at the Checqures Inn for years. We go back as often as we can, when ever we fancy this style of exquisite food. Our visit last night, truly impressed. It's always been excelent but some how, they seem to have cranked it up another notch! Fantastic food, superbly presented and served by the most endearing, capable team.
Long may it continue, a well deserved pat on the back to all involved.
Thanks for providing a genuine treasure.👍

Tiny little 17th century inn, but don’t be fooled by the size. Lovely decor, and a cosy intimate setting. Food absolutely incredible and the service was too! Had small plates rather than a main dish as we didn’t fancy the entire tasting menu as we are not fish fans. The duck and pigeon sausage roll was delicious. The baby back pork ribs from the farm a few miles up the road were out of this world! The service was just flawless down to even noticing that my partner had poured her lemonade into a wine glass. So when we ordered another once it came served in a wine glass!! Every dish explained to you at the table. Kitchen staff just as friendly, head chef serves the amuse-bouche. Don’t really do desserts but the set lemon curd, with meringue, mascarpone ice cream and bee pollen mead jelly had to be tasted. Possibly the best dessert I’ve ever had!

After a long year in lockdown we had waited so long to be together as a family to celebrate my fiancé’s 40th birthday all together, I am so absolutely gutted we chose to do it here!
We booked a table well in advance, we were told it was £20 pp cancellation charge within 7 days prior to visit which I thought was excessive however we went with it.
I advise we had a 5 year old child with us and that we were celebrating my partners birthday.
At no point was I advise the following
There is NO children’s menu and the child was offered a choice of 2 meals on the day!
On arrival there were 4 other tables in the place and we waited over 20mins for our drinks order to be taken.
We ordered the child’s food at this point and then waited another 35mins for this to arrive, it was fish and chips!
We had to order breads as our food took over 40mons to be served, we constantly had to ask for drinks or and additional ordered as the staff were not interested.
It was Sunday and we were not informed that no al l carte menu was available only a set Sunday menu of limited choice.
I asked on arrival if I could give the kitchen our birthday cake, this was met with a blunt no, we don’t allow your own birthday cakes.
On leaving we asked if we could borrow a knife to cut a piece of cake for our nephew to take home and the waiter had to ask the “boss man” if he was allowed to let us borrow a knife to do this in the empty bar area! He allowed it “wow thanks”
On leaving I asked what the reason was for not allowing the cake and he couldn’t give me a reason!
This place makes good food but it’s ruined by the over pretentious attitude, even after the ridge negative approach to the customer experience and terrible wait for the food my partner complimented the chef on the beef, he didn’t even have the decency to say thank you, just blank faced and rude!
Unbelievably poor experience, absolutely gutted as it ruined my fiancé’s birthday and our first family meal out since lockdown!
If you go to the chequers inn in Weston turville expect a ridiculous pretentious and arrogant approach to customer experience

The lunchtime set menu is terrific value in my opinion. Yesterday it was the Chowder, which was absolutely delicious: the fish was so delicate and the potato and apple really worked well together. The main course was an easy choice - pork with delicious delicate cubes of black pudding and sliced pear. We managed to resist the dessert and went further cheeses - the Tunworth is so creamy and the Wyfe of Bath, Havod and Stilton were superb.
I can confirm that there were 13 wines costing less than £50, contrary to what another reviewer claimed and a few under £30 too.
Top quality from start to finish and fantastic value for money. Try it and you won't be disappointed.

We booked a table for Saturday for our 40th wedding anniversary. We both went for the Tasting Menu and wine pairing, as it looked so inviting. A few pre-dinner drinks near the fire in the bar and then on to the meal itself. Every dish tasted fantastic and was beautifully presented on the plate. It was hard choose my personal favourite; Chicken Tikka melted in the mouth, the Scotch egg was sensational, and the Norwegian Skrei in Butternut sauce nearly took first place. For me, it was the Berkshire Downs Lamb that was my favourite. The lamb was so flavoursome, and the sausage roll

We have enjoyed the Chequers many times over the years, but were very disappointed on our last visit. The choice on the menu has shrunk considerably and prices have risen by well over 25%. The wine list on their website is misleading - when we went there was only one wine under £50 a bottle (when 10% service charge is included). So the entire bill was increased at least a third since last visit - beyond what is justified for a good, but not top-notch quality experience. They need to rethink, in my opinion

Fantastic dinner last night! The 7 course vegan tasting menu was executed brilliantly by the team under the leadership of chef patron Dritan!
Living in Milton Keynes there isn’t any vegan fine dining options nearby to take the wife and celebrate but with Chef Dritan it’s an experience.
Persistently high quality creative and smartly built dishes from 1 to 7.
On arrival start with a glass of Chequers 75 😎
If you visit please choose the wine pairing as well because it’s marvelously thought through.
Flavors weight acidity in balance with a theatrical finesse on the palate!
All the dishes and wines were singing!!!
Bravo Chequers team and Dritan, you are a gentleman, thank you very much for looking after us!
It is a 5 star from us!

Fabulous 80th birthday celebration on Sunday 8 October with family and friends for 18 guests. The 5 course taster menu especially selected for us by head chef Jamie was outstanding and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The hosts Dritan and Ranka could not have been more helpful and the service was excellent throughout. It was a beautiful sunny day and we were able to take advantage of the stunning courtyard afterwards.

Another incredible meal had at the Chequers! After receiving a thoroughly warm welcome from Ranka and Dritan, we enjoyed an excellent Roast Beef lunch accompanied by an magnificent red wine chosen by our waiter Christoff. This really is fine dining at its best! If you are visiting the area, you certainly should add this to your ‘must eat here ‘ list. We feel incredibly lucky to have this on our doorstep.

We thoroughly enjoyed a 6 course game and wine evening event at The Chequers last month. So decided to celebrate a friend's birthday by having the tasting menu and accompanying wines at lunchtime. Wow, what a great experience it was! We chose the 8 course option and each course was an absolute delight. The thoughtfulness that went into the creation of each dish was evident. Some brilliant and inventive flavour combinations, with each course beautifully presented. This really is cooking of the highest order. The accompanying wines were matched perfectly. The service was excellent and friendly, with an explanation of each course and wine. It would be hard to find a better way to celebrate a birthday than in this superb place. Congratulations to the front of house staff and those creating masterpieces in the kitchen. You should all be so pleased and proud of what you deliver, which is an outstanding dining experience. We hope to enjoy many more of your delights in the near future. Thank you.

Our favourite restaurant!
Just had, once again a wonderful meal - because we live an hours drive away we usually visit during the week, however this time we decided to go for a Sunday lunch.
As usual the food was wonderful, a lovely selection of dishes, the difficult part is choosing what to have! The service was, as always excellent, a lovely friendly and attentive team.
One of us is dairy intolerant and as always care was taken over his meal to make sure there is no problem ,the chef will do a variation of his choice of meal if necessary.
First Sunday lunch visit for us and they were very busy, but made no difference to the service, attention to detail and the excellent meal.
Looking forward to our next visit in a few weeks time, already booked!

Most restaurants around here are average not bad but not memorable. The Chequers is different as we had a most excellent lunch here. Each course was a taste sensation and that is no exaggeration. The price of a three course meal was less than £30. Mind you their excellent wine list will top this up a bit but what a great experience. To cap it all the owners and staff are so attentive and friendly. We will certainly go again. Thanks to everyone.

Absolutely fantastic way to start Christmas festive period, there was 13 of us, one gluten free dietary requirement, which that person was over whelmed with his food. During the meal everyone was quiet has they were enjoying eating the delicious food. The staff were so professional and friendly, nothing was too much bother. This restaurant is my husband & I favourite. So when I got tasked with organising our Christmas lunch, I went to see Dritan & Ranka to see what they could do for me and as usual they and their staff didn’t let me down. My party thoroughly enjoyed their lunch and said they are bringing their partners here to let them share the same experience as they did.
Thank you again Chequers Team and looking forward to 17 December 22.
