Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I went on a Thursday evening and place was virtually empty apart from some really loud young people at bar. I ordered the fish and chips, which was okay, didn't really have any flavour to it. Pint of lager was over £5.

Brilliant service. Excellent food. There were 23 of us and food came out at same time and hot! Staff friendly and attentive even though they were super busy. Will definitely be back.

I had a very good Christmas meal here with my family. Great meats and trimmings. The staff were friendly and clearly work hard.

This was my first visit here with family, and we chose here because it really does have a menu to suit everyone. The pub itself has a small car park and is decorated really nice - preserving the lovely wooden beams too. The food was...delicious and everyone is really friendly and helpful. I will definitely be coming back!More

Came for late lunch with family. Service was poor, staff not attentive and the best service was at the end with the gent who took our payment. Reaaaaally slow service - took an hour to get starters and another half hour after that to get...mains. No one came to check if all was okay or if we needed more drinks. Food was below average and most of it seemed to be overcooked or generic freezer stuff (particularly the stuffing balls). Wouldn’t come back as no one seemed to care about service.More

Like I do many places I check reviews and after reading the latest review left I felt compelled to write one on the back of that review left. What can I say but wow, the food was incredible and I actually had a burger myself...which I know are sourced locally from a butchers and I can't complain. Hands down the best burger I've had in a long time. Staff attentive and friendly a lovely local village pub I would recommend highly.More

We ate here for lunch yesterday, I had a baguette and my husband had a beef burger. It looked great when it arrived but within 6 hours of eating the burger my husband has had severe sickness and diarrhoea. He hasn’t eaten anything else which...could have caused this. I have spoken with the manager who Ofcourse says they ok the meat to the correct temperature and that he had eaten a burger yesterday too. But it had to have been the burger that has caused his illness. Such a shame as we are away this weekend so it has spoilt the whole weekend for us. Don’t risk it!More

I have just tip toed through an 18 person meal for my family celebrating two 80th birthdays. The tip toe was to avoid the dire attitude of the landlady . Everything I said and did raised her hackles and got her snarling . I understand...life is a task to be endured but we chose the Chandon because the food is good and Holly works hard to get a job done . Having personally spent over £400 pounds on a lunch at least a third of those present will tell their friends it was nice but the land lady was a bit harsh. We booked a month ago and the outside area was filthy . I know this as I had to set an 18 person table myself . We were treated like we should be glad to be fed . Having eaten here many times since Stuart took over from Chris. I’m now left thinking next time call the harrow. Coming from a hospitality back ground I expected to be grateful for a nice time not glad that my wife stopped me from ripping someone a new bottom . Shame as Holly worked her backside off to at least feed us . Mark VervaetMore

Thirteen of us visited the Chandos last night for a pre Christmas meal. I have to say the food and staff were excellent. There were two other larger groups in for meals at the same time, so they were very busy but this did not...spoil the service in any way. The starters, roast beef meal and sweets were all excellent Thank you to the chef and all the staff for making such a massive effort to get it spot on. I hope you all have a great Christmas.More

I organised our work Christmas dinner at the Chandos Last week and we were not disappointed! Communication on booking the dinner was good, and we even added two more on last minute which was no issue for them. The food was amazing, generous portions and...good quality. I’m coeliac and they were aware in advance. The servers knew which dinner was mine and came out with the plates saying my name. This made me relax so I knew I was eating a gluten free dinner. I had soup to start with a GF roll, this was so tasty and fresh! Turkey dinner for main which was huge and absolutely gorgeous - even a GF Yorkshire pud! Thankfully we were given time before pudding arrived, which was another delightful course, apple crumble cheesecake! I couldn’t finish it all but it was so lovely! Stewart, Ash and the team served us well, very attentive and we couldn’t have ask for more, Chef Matthew cooked amazing food! If you want a great Christmas meal, please go to the Chandos Arms, you won’t be disappointed! I have also been in the summer and they do make amazing pizzas too! Never been disappointed by the food!More

Myself and my partner have come to The Chandos Arms many of times and had a really good Sunday roast - best one in Aylesbury, so we decided to invite friends down from Wycombe to try and have a get together. Unfortunately, we don't know...if there has been a change in chef or what happened as this time the food wasn't great, the Stuffing wasn't cooked, very dry, the beef had a very off taste wasn't nice and couldn't finish. Along with the rest of the dinner being soggy. We all left very disappointed especially myself and my partner as we had hyped the pub up loads to friends. The service was ok but no one seemed happy when serving us. Sadly we wont be in a rush back to the pub for a Sunday roast.More
