Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely food at a great price. Gibby will give you a lift back to the Ocean Bay hotel after dinner. Great for lunch, dinner or just a drink. Lobsters and speciality fish can be pre-ordered 48 hours before. The prawn skewers or king prawns are...beautiful if you enjoy prawns. If you fancy a plain dish of plain chicken and chips without sauce he can accomodate. He will pay for evening entertainment if he knows there are a few people going down from the hotel which is always very good. Great view during the day over the beach. There's a television downstairs which will show football. The pictures and wooden artifacts are for sale in the restaurant so if one catches your eye ask him the price. We always return to Gibby's and I have never once had Banjul belly from the food. The kitchen is extremely clean. Lovely food at a great price.More

Excellent food and friendly service. Gibbi even offered us a ride back to the hotel in the dark. Not far from Ocean Bay Hotel.

wow! it never seems to disappoint with another wonderful week in Gambia. we visited Gibbis on 6 occassions this time supporting his wonderful restaurant. 2 lobster with all the trimmings, divine. £17 a serving, unbelievable value. prawns on scewers for£6, beer for £1.20 we really cannot understand...why people do all incusive! the local restaurants need all of us to help or they will vanish. Gibbi will organise a local band with notice if enough people book, food is freshly cooked so sometimes its on Gambian time! great view from upstairs , do not be put off from walking from Ocean Bay as only 5 minutes, if any issues Gibbi will pick people up and return them as part of the service.More

Went with my daughter for dinner. Food was excellent, I had fish and rice and my daughter had chicken kebabs. All freshly cooked and so tasty. Staff were attentive, beer is cheap, would definitely recommend.

We had been to Bobbi's on the beach when it first opened a couple of years ago then even though the food was ok it was cold and the restaurant was more like a staff canteen . After two years we found it hadn't improved,I...had fish which was ok but again cold it cooled down stairs and brought up and not covered plus cold plates Another person had steak recommend by the owner not only cold but very tough. When asked if they had pearly bay wine they said they had but with a new name and label,we found it this not to be true. The restaurant is large very large and impersonal we suggested blocking half of it off Overall with few tweaks could be a decent restaurant but as it stands now we won't go backMore

My wife and I enjoyed our meal at Gibbi's but it was very strange sitting alone in a fairly large dining area. Such a shame but tourists not visiting due to COVID. Our hotel, which can accommodate 300 guests only had 40 staying during our...visit.More

In a fantastic location overlooking the beach area and sea, a bit hard to find the first time and dont worry about walking down the track to it as it is very safe, I wouls suggest finding it during daylight. The bar next door for...the locals keeps you entertained with their music. Very friendly staff and the food was excellent, the fish and chips is cheap but you get enough and its very nice, I had it twice. Definitely worth a visit.More

We have been visiting Gibby's on the Beach since it opened a few years ago. The open air outlook to the beach is fantastic for either lunch or an evening dinner. It is open until late in the evening and offers a wide selection of...tasty food. I'm not quite sure how they didn't run out of King Prawns on skewers the week we were there as we promoted it with everyone back at the hotel and nobody was disappointed! Book a lobster meal about 48 hours before hand which will only cost £16/17. Service is Gambian time, but well worth the wait. Ask about the pictures and Gambian artefacts around the restaurant as they may be for sale at a good price! If you are looking for a business meeting this is the place as it is big enough to cater for all. If you are unsure of the dark road leading up to the restaurant don't be....Gibby will pick up and drop off from the Ocean Bay hotel and is very accommodating.More

The barracuda was 5 star. The scenery amazing. A cool breeze on the beach and now they have a happy hour. 75 dalasi COLD as ICE beer for happy hour. The only place in stunning Cape Point that does so. I have tried many meals...here and not one has disappointed. African dishes and international food with great panache and western standard. Very hygenic and professional wait staff. The new cook is gifted. I love this place. Follow the signs. Worth the effort.More

Gibbi's is owned by the people who own the Rising Sun which do cheap and cheerful food (and its ok) Gibbi's is a new purpose built restaurant quite large and with only a dozen people in looked empty and soul less . They plan to...build bedrooms. The meal i had spaghetti bolagnaise which was ok but nothing special and not very hot as it has to be brought up from down stairs and the plates were cold. Did i mention the local bar next door every Sunday its blast out music and i mean blasts so no chance of a quite meal. Personly i think food doesnt do the the restaurant justice its nice surrounding if to big but there using the cheap and cheerful menu from the rising sun, they should go more upmarket To sum up average meal not expensive could do better more select upmarket menuMore

Decided to try this new venue . Food was okay but it such a huge and impersonal dining area with few guests which does not make for much ambiance ,there was no entertainment and it lacks idendity of any kind . Gibbi needs to try...a lot harder to make it stand out if this venture is to succeed in a crowded restaurant marketMore

This restaurant is newly built and has only been open a couple of months. If you haven't been to this restaurant yet please go! I highly recommend the king prawns on skewers - I must have had them at least 6 times in one week!...We took other people from our hotel (Ocean Bay Hotel just up the road) to experience the food - one lady said it was the best meal she had had whilst in the Gambia, and another said they were the best prawns she had ever had. If there isn't a fish on the menu - just ask and Gibby will endeavour to order it in for you! - we ordered Lobster (Thermador) and it was not only beautiful - but excellent value for money compared to top restaurants very near by. Gibby is a lovely, personable man who works very hard and looks after his staff. Don't be put off by the road leading up to it, it is very safe and if you would prefer not to walk back to the hotel nearby - he will be more than happy to drop you off if he is able. It caters for Couples and families, business or a friends lunch/night out - basically any time of the day. Please support Gibby by trying his beautiful food whilst having a great view out to the sea.More
