Have not eaten there but heard it's very good my experience is having a drink in the afternoon overlooking the busy fish market and seeing the boats unloading there catch a sight worth seeing . The hotel is full of artefacts and is well worth seeing you will be amazed. So for a drink in the afternoon after visiting bakau... More

Beautiful fresh Barracuda! Such a wonderful restaurant. Loved watching the fishermen bring in their evening haul. Very good, and well presented food. Visit ( Feb 2010 )

The best food is not in the baku guest house but outside with the locals. For the same price in the Baku House you will have 10 big fishes cleaned and cooked right in front of you in the fire. Finger licking delicious! Best fish in my life.

We went there twice. First time we didn't even get served and decided to go somewhere else. Second time we ordered and waited for our food for 1h 20min and when it came it was all a big mess. Maroccan tagine was missing the couscous that was meant to come with it. Roasted pumpkin was actually steamed or boiled and... More

Very quirky cool place to eat overlooking the fishing market of Bakau. The stuffed baraccuda was delicious and the size of my head! Don't miss this place - so much better than the bigger more commercialised restaurants in Cape point and Senegambia.

We always call in here every trip but this time the kitchen was closed due to refurbishment so no food. The owner and staff can't do enough for you and are very informative about the guest house and surrounding area. Every visit you think that you've seen it all and then find something new a great place to spend a... More

This is the restaurant inside the bakau Guest house which has a huge terrace overlooking the fishing boat activity and market below. Beautiful panorama. Run by Canadian Egyptians who maintain a secret antique museum upstairs with great prices. A fun bar amidst exotic works of West African art.

Like a previous reviewer we first went here one afternoon to have a drink on the balcony while watching the fishing boats come in. It's a great place to sit and watch the goings on. It's quite a unique place on the inside and a bit of a surprise as it's not what we were expecting. It's full of carvings... More

The best time to visit the Le Mer Restaurant is around 4:00 pm. just before sunset. It is a dining experience that should be included in your visit. The outdoor dining overlooks the Bakau Fish Market and is an unbelievable cultural experience. The excellent food, affordable pricing and friendly staff is a plus. I was a solo traveler and stayed in... More
