We tried a place near by but there was a 45 minute wait for a table so we landed here and weren't disappointed. The General Tso and Sesame Chicken had amazing flavors. The sweet and sour chicken was also delicious. We also tried the pork dumplings and sweet and sour spare ribs. The spare ribs were served cold which was... More

I am a native Albanian (from Albany, NY) now living in Florida. Every time I get back to NY one of the first things I do is to go to dinner at Ala Shanghai. I love their curry chicken rice noodle dish and the soup dumplings. Last week when visiting Albany I brought my sisters family to dinner there and... More

Fresh, authentic Chinese cuisine. Excellent service. Very flavorful. The pork soup dumplings are a must! Recommend trying the Peking duck and pork buns. Best in the area.

Best Chinese food experience I have ever had. I has.chicken with nuts cooked in Clay pot. Wife and.daughter shared a dish with tofu noodles. Had soup and apps. Desert was a type of stuffed pancake. We loved all of it.

I hadn't found much food to really rave about in this area of NY which I've been visiting regularly for over 2 years now. This place has GREAT food and the service is friendly and accommodating. Don't miss the Wonton in Spicy Flavor - steamed, not fried, they are delicate, thin noodle bundles with sweet-savory-spicy sauce that is over the... More

The location is good with a lot of parking. Decor is simple and not over the top like most asian establishments. Just some nice asian touches here and there. Friendly service, delicious warm tea served when seated. Pork and leek dumplings were very good and left us wanting more than six to share. Mo-shu pork was so good I couldn't... More

I agree whole heartedly with the other reviewers here. Ala Shanghi is some of the best Chinese I have had here. If you like the sweet starchy run of the mill Chinese, this is not your destination. If you crave the real thing Here it is. Just like the best place in NYC or China. The place is unassuming on... More

With so many plastic Chinese take-out joints around serving quasi Chinese slop this place is a refreshing oasis os superb dining at very reasonable prices. Love the Mu Shoo Pork. They have a number of offerings not seen elsewhere. Top notch service and atmosphere.

What a wonderful dining experience we had at Ala Shanghai! As soon as I saw the menu I knew we were in for a treat. Many of the dishes (and there are PLENTY to choose from) I have only seen before in Chinatown, NY, restaurants. We chose dum sum, pancakes, a chicken dish and salt and pepper shrimp. Every single...
