Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is just the place to go after dinner for a night cap! The door is guarded, or at least it has been every time I've been there. Be prepared for that. There are booths and the bar. This time we took a booth. It...offered comfortable seating and there i They offer a high back between customers. There is a drink menu but if you want something else just ask. Our service was friendly and quick. We had a nice time enjoying each other's company and weren't rushed at all. I took photos to share but it was so dark that they weren't worth posting.More

Living in NY for 30 years can't prepare you for how rude or arrogant the manager Sebastian is (a balding Caucasian man). After my friend and I waited for 10 minutes outside the door without any acknowledgement, we walked inside and stood in the doorway...for another couple minutes saying hello and asking to be helped. Not one customer, staff or anyone was to be seen. Sebastian finally comes out and rudely yells "OUT, OUT, OUT, OUT, OUT!" as he points to the door. We of course exit. After taking our temperature, we walk inside and he abruptly stops us and yells "CLEAN YOUR HANDS!" as he points to the hand sanitizer on the wall. There is NOTHING welcoming or friendly about his interaction with us thus far and we haven't even gotten to the table yet! As we are sitting there, we receive a phone call from the remaining 3 members to our party (who BTW are all Asian) and they tell us they can't get in because one of them couldn't find an ID...But wait, was my friend and I asked for the ID to get in after having our temperature was taken? NO. So we just learned that Sebastian doesn't know his own protocol or he is profiling against these 3 Asian customers waiting outside the door. I am absolutely leaning towards the latter. Shortly after the initial phone call from our friends, they message us stating they found their ID. 15 minutes go by and they are still waiting outside, and not to mention, Sebastian hasn't even come back to our table even though he has walked by us several times. Finally, my Caucasian friend gets up and walks to Sebastian, and as he stands in the main walkway, he let's Sebastian know that our friends have their IDs and are outside waiting to come in. Instead of saying something like "oh great, I will go help them," Sebastian yells at my friend that he can't stand there and needs to go sit back down. Can't stand there? It's the main walkway... My friend then politely asks if our friends will be able to come in and all I begin hearing is Sebastian yell "You can't stand there, go sit down!" My friend repeats the question in the nicest tone possible and Sebastian still neglects to answer his very simple question. Finally, without any other reason, Sebastian yells at the top of his lungs, "you know what, we won't even serve YOU PEOPLE here. No one wants to serve any of you, GET OUT!." As my Caucasian friend has now comeback to the table and gestures us to leave, we grab our jackets without hesitation. As I am putting my jacket on in the walkway, Sebastian gets right in my face, literally 2 inches away, and yells repeatedly "out, out, get out now, no one wants to serve YOU people!" over and over into my face and ears. He was so close that I could feel his chest on my shoulder. I couldn't take it anymore and I turned around and yelled "Stay away from me! Keep your distance! I don't have any idea what is wrong with you, but keep your distance!". What happened to the social distancing and COVID-related "safety precautions" that were being asked of us earlier??? I couldn't even fully put my jacket on due to the unsafe and risky environment Sebastian created. Why was he even doing this?! I've heard of people having a bad day, but this was something else. He looked like he loathed my friends and I from the beginning. Without a single reason for his actions. I don't know what has gotten into people lately, but anti-Asian sentiment is now becoming more prevalent than ever. Why were we kicked out of this place? Why were you not going back to the door to let my friends show you their ID so that they could come in and not stand outside in the cold? This was absolutely despicable. I am beyond disgusted, and have no problem taking time out of my workday to write this review. This neighborhood is becoming ever more diverse, and we have NO, I repeat no need for racism or prejudice of any sort. #StopAsianHateMore

Fairly easy to find, even though there is only a tiny brass sign on the door & a neon "bar" sign on the roof. Known for weird large ice cubes and cocktails (really good cocktails). They have a medium size bar and several booths at...the front of the bar. Not surprisingly this bar is very busy. You need to visit them.More

Finally found a fantastic cocktail bar where music is not too loud so you don't have to be screaming you conversations. Went x2 to this place. The bartenders have good knowledge of drinks and can make you a "freestyle" drinks. We ordered 4 of those...freestyles and all of them where spot on. I highly reccomend this spot for a drink before or after dinner...More

We found this place accidentally. Its a hidden speakeasy bar in Queens. The girl behind the bar made us numerous cocktails and each one kept getting better and better. She obviously knew her job very well. I also asked from random bottles from behind the...counter and knew exactly where it was asap. Highly recommend this place for tasty cocktails and nice atmosphere.More

Hidden little high-end cocktail bar. Staff happy to help you find a tasty beverage of any variety. Food was tasty sandwiches wrapped in paper (not what I expected), but they were out of a lot of options on a Tuesday. Appetizer was cold refried beans...and corn chips. I would definitely go back, just not plan to eat. I have come to expect to pay $$$$ for cocktails, but not Fritos appetizers.More

a great cocktail bar. fortunately it's a little hidden in LIC and for that fact, many people in Manhattan wont make the trek over, but for those of living in Queens, that works out for the better on our end! nice happy hour menu.

Dutch Kills is a speakeasy bar which is only 1 minuet walk from our hotel. The entrance is easily missed as the building looks nothing special. The only giveaway that there’s a bar there is the neon light sign flashing above the entrance. Inside is...actually very dark. There are about 4 booths that can accommodate 6-8 people and smaller booths for couples. There is table service for this at the booths. The cocktails are incredible! Tastes good but fairly pricey at $14. The beef jerky is very good to have with the drinks as it’s nice and salty. They also offer sandwiches for those who are bit more hungry. This is a good place to come if you enjoy good drinks and good chat. Thoroughly recommend it!More

Looks ordinary with an odd name, but this place does food right. Had dinner twice with a colleague. Best of the two nights the incredible deviled eggs and a perfectly prepared fresh salmon Caesar salad. Did not have drinks, but judging by the packed house...each night, many find this to be a suitable watering hole. Will definitely return.More

One of the best kept secrets in NYC, Dutch Kills is a top notch speakeasy with just the right amount of reputation, ambiance and drink variety. This is not a full restaurant, however so don't expect a full meal with your cocktails. Bar nibbles and...sandwiches are what's available. Great for a date night or a gathering of friends. Definitely try to grab a booth here and ask the bar to make you something of their own recommendation based on your tastes. You won't leave here disappointed, several local ratings place Dutch Kills as one of the top 10 cocktail bars in NYC.More

I have only been here for drinks. They do offer sandwiches. This is a cozy spot for a nice drink; not too loud. Since I last visited they have expanded the bar to include small bench booths at the front but the classic bar is...still at the back of the building; they have added a juke box. They still offer some classic and signature drinks. If you don't see what you want on the menu just ask. It is dark and small inside so be prepared.More
