I had one of the best meals I've ever had here yesterday. Tuna with garlic, spinach and artichoke with a pepper sauce. Cooked the way I asked (rare). I was there with my wife her brother and his wife. Every ones plate was wiped clean....More

My friends and I wanted to try a new place for lunch and found this one off the beaten path. We had a delightful lunch and all 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed our entrees and the chowders. My grilled shrimp salad plate had five large...More

My wife and I have been here many times. It's a smaller restaurant and the dining area is comfortable. Seafood is their specialty, but they also have other dishes (meats, pastas, vegetarian), as well as a children's menu. The corn and Manhattan chowders are excellent....More

After a movie on a wintery night, we stopped in to The Chowder House and were pleasantly surprised. I had driven by it numerous times over the years but had never eaten there. The waitress was helpful and the food delicious! Our table had the...More

You would drive past this restaurant if you weren't looking for it. It is tucked away on a semi-busy residential city street between duplexes and Victorian homes. The décor is nautical all the way, reminding one of Nantucket or Kennebunkport. Large dining area with additional...More

This past Friday 10/14, I picked up a quart of Manhattan clam chowder. It was very good, just the right mix of clams, vegetables and spices. The NE clam chowder on the other hand had more potatoes and thyme than clams. Far less thyme, more...More

Thanks to Trip Advisor we found this small, quaint spot tucked a bit off the main roads. The staff was friendly and attentive. The meals (Pirate Platter- recommended!) were fresh and plentiful. The fish, shrimp and scallops were not overpowered by a thick batter. Since...More

We ate here a few years ago and it seemed ok but a recent experience was anything but "ok"... In fact it was disgusting. The worn out carpet was filthy, the vining are was simply dirty which was a bad start. The clam chowder was...More

When I lived in this area, this used to be a bar and grill. Transformed into a primarily seafood restaurant is a big step up. The menu offers a good choice of seafood dishes, sandwiches, and non-seafood like steak and chicken. We had lunch here,...More

In June 1991, The Chowder House took its first baby steps on Oneida street in New Hartford. The doors opened as a self-service smoke free restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Jim, his brother Dave and wife Jan, created recipes for beer battered fish, chowders, and soups. In October of 1997, the Chowder House relocated to it's current location at 57 Burrstone Road in New York Mills. Along with an ever expanding dining & catering menu, the Chowder House enjoys serving up the latest in cocktail libations & Spirits. We cheerish our friends, our customers and hope you too can join us for dinner or just stop in for a drink before closing. We're happy to have you.
