Went to Emerson spice this week. Was actually pretty average and overpriced for the food that was served. The setting is nice with a view over stone town but because of the buildings in the way you don't get to see a proper sunset. The building is nice and it feels very authentic and traditional as you climb the many... More

Dear Steve, Thank you for your review of The Tea House at Emerson Spice. Our Daily Changing Five Course Fish and Seafood menu is compiled each morning by our Zanzibari Chefs to showcase all the seasonal, local ingredients the island has to offer combined with its famed fresh spices. The Team and I are very disappointed that the dinner didn’t... More

Our local guide took us inside Emerson Spice - stunning!!! Would love to have stayed here, but my family insisted on beach resort, still, grateful for the opportunity to have a walk around inside and see this beautiful place. Next time!

Great location right in the heart of Stone Town with fantastic service. Amazing roof top bar where you can enjoy a sundowner or dinner and listen to the call to prayer. However it was the personal service and attention to detail that I really appreciated especially from the manager Russell. He made the whole stay so much more relaxed, from... More

The sunset was spectacular to only be surpassed by the great food. The service was excellent. The only flaw, a minor one, was the timely manor of receiving our bill.

It is highly recommended to book in advance ( at the hotel's reception ) . The roof terrace was already full but we enjoyed very much the patio at the ground floor as well. Very friendly personnel that even walked with us back to our seafront hotel ( you will easily get lost in the dark ). It is the... More

Russell and his team have created something very special here. From The hand delivered daily changing menu to your hotel, the warm welcome and introduction to the house and team all the way through the main event to being escorted back to your hotel by one of the doormen. What a fantastic evening of memory making. So, to the main... More

Do it! Amazing food, atmosphere and ambience. There were a range of ages and groups dining on the night, and everyone seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.
