Based on food alone, I would easily give L'Envers a 4+ rating. Unfortunately the service was subpar and not at all accommodating. Language wasn't the issue, as my wife and I both speak enough French. Instead, our impression was that the staff caters more to locals and native French at the expense of tourists. I wouldn't go back.

We'd read good reviews online and our meal didn't disappoint. The variety of dishes were local and seasonal, service was efficient (the bar tender was very knowledgeable & helpful)and ambience was lively (with a mix of locals and tourists).

we had dinner on a busy Monday night due to a holiday weekend. The service was done by one person and he was busy. So a little wait was in order. The food had a good standard but not special. We had the plat du jour with an additional starter, which made it more expansive and lowered the value ratio.

We stayed in St Emilion only for three days and we had dinner here on two different occasions. This place is so charming, the atmosphere is great, friendly staff and tasty food. I loved it here

Visiting again after a few years. Service by three man attentive. Restaurant decor typical - lots of Wood (wine boxes from Bordeaux wines). Quality and presentation of Food is simple and nothing Special. Why is there never a hot plate for main courses? Meat and fish gets always cold so quick (Fillet of Beef, veal cotelettes). :(.

Wanted to do a local fare this evening and the hotel staff suggested this bistro just a few steps from the hotel. The staff was very helpful and spoke good English and provided English menus without us asking. Good food. I had the veal chop and the soup and it was good. My wife had the chicken and was pleased.... More

We had lunch here while visiting the wine yards of Saint Emillion and Pomerol. Beautiful, old city. The service was swift (we had relatively short time due to our next wine tasting), food was good and the restaurant room was cozy and rustic. The wine list was very good, and you could choose from high end to more reasonable priced... More

Wow... stumbled across this restaurant, and so glad we did. It looks small from the outside, but it's caverous inside. The menu is varied, the staff were good, but, the food, my; it was incredible. Superbly cooked beef to share, amazing gravies, and, to wash it down, the best St Emilion wine. What a spectacular lunch in this most beautiful... More

The issue with restaurants everywhere is that their wine lists have massive markups. Even in a beautiful town like Saint Emillion, where every second store is being store or a restaurant, the markups can be huge. Not here. You will find one of the most extensive list of local wines (everything from the Grand Crus to lesser known ones) and... More

Arrived in St Emilion on a Sunday afternoon from our home in Spain, en route to UK. Our hotel recommended this restaurant. Very disappointing. I know this is a tourist hot spot, but the prices are ridiculous. My starter was squid in tempura batter. The batter was thick and very unpleasant - and very little squid. Main course of fillet...
