Friendly atmosphere when you first walked in. Service was about right, not long in waiting to be served to plates being cleared away. Starters were mouth watering. Mains was nice, nothing special. The menu layout itself could be improved, keeping starters on one page, main on another for example. Overall an enjoyable evening.

Visited for a Birthday lunch on a Thursday not long before Xmas, the restaurant was catering for a large party as they had forewarned us, and still managed to seat us so the party was not intrusive, and maintain an exceptional standard of service and food. Dessert was spectacular with a special Happy Birthday message, a lovely touch.

Our meals were delicious. We all tried something different and tasted each others meals. They were all lovely in particular the kangaroo entree, and the Javanese chicken main were our favourites. Really enjoyed the experience and in particular trying to guess the secret 7 spices!

Expectations are high. At least a half dozen people recommended Silas as a culinary genius. From colleagues to the owners of several local places, Pepper and Salt certainly came with consistent commendations. And Silas is very good at what he does. Located upstairs of the Forest Hill Winery, the restaurant has sweeping views of the surrounding hills. Silas is quite... More

View was lovely food was awesome, I had the marron with risotto which was superb, hubby had the steak which was very tasty, both entrees where nice and desert was great, only downfall was one waitress who was very lean on pouring wine, other staff were ok, so I avoided her lol

Had a fabulous family and friends lunch at Pepper & Salt in their super busy Christmas/New Year period. Managed to squeeze our friends onto our table booking due to a cancellation. Kids enjoyed their lunch from an excellent kids menu then got to head outside and race around whilst we enjoyed our lunch in peace. The set menu was great... More

Visiting Denmark for a second time we were looking forward to going back to Pepper and Salt and we were not disappointed! The food is so delicious and unique. The spices Silas (the owner and the chef) puts together work beautifully and delight you pallet. This time we enjoyed lunch for two adults and three kids and everyone walked away... More

I booked a lunch at Pepper and Salt at the Forrest Hill Winery for a birthday celebration. After tasting and choosing our wine at the cellar door we went up to the restaurant. The food, locally sourced, was excellent. The experience was enhanced with attentive and friendly staff and by the beautiful view over a valley with trees and farm... More

My wife and I had decided on a 6 day break after Xmas 2016 . Having not visited the Albany/Denmark region for some 37 years I decided to ask some workmates (who hailed for that part of the world) in our Perth office for tips on regional highlights. Independently they recommended Pepper and Salt, just outside the outskirts of Denmark,... More

Booked in advance from UK for special New Years Eve dinner. Despite email confirmation there was no record of of our booking. No apology just an offhand " it must be Melissa" to my husband, who certainly looks nothing like a Melissa. Set menu looked ok. Ordered a glass of wine to accompany the starter and another with the main... More

Description
It's been a full circle for Silas and Angela, who in 2007, along with their children, Marley and Levi (Lumeah was born in 2008), packed up their life in Victoria and headed to Denmark where Silas had been offered the position as head chef at Forest Hill Vineyard. With his passion for locally sourced produce combined with his love of spices, Silas' dishes became a big hit. Fast track to 2010 and Pepper & Salt Restaurant was born! Silas' creativity with herbs and spices produced an outstanding menu that showcased his Fijian-Indian heritage, and with Angela and the team's friendly and attentive service, Pepper & Salt Restaurant became a favourite amongst locals and tourists alike. In 2013, Silas and Angela welcomed the opportunity to relocate their restaurant from Rockcliffe Winery to Forest Hill Vineyard where they continue to develop creative dishes paired with excellent service.
