Bread & Butter has excellent coffee and tea, and great scones and cookies. The venue is quite to linger around to work on your laptop but the shape and cleanliness of the furniture and bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. If you are comfortable with fraternity level accommodations, you came to the right place.

One of my favorite places for coffee and a freshly baked scone. Spacious, quiet, laid-back atmosphere. George owns and operates the place and is often there baking up a storm, which adds fabulous aroma to the place.

Nice little café. The barista was so sweet. We took a ice café moka and a Blueberry muffin. Both of those tasted great. The muffin was homemade in the morning and was really good. The atmosphere was nice with soft jazzy music. The only bad point was probably the look of the place. Weither inside or outside... It wasn't really... More

Bread & Butter Bakery and Cafe is a cool little spot off the beaten path in Chapel Hill. Close to Carrboro, this bakery is locally owned has muffins, scones, cookies and other goodies as well as hearty loaves of bread. I bought a loaf of sour dough bread and it is excellent. They sell coffee, juices and other drinks.

This is a great spot. I get bread from here often and come here for both studying and leisure reading. The focus is certainly on the bread, other baked goods and coffee and tea, but they also have a small selection of beer, wine, and cheese. There are a number of things I really like about this place. 1. Excellent... More

I make a special trip to this bakery for their amazing baguette. It is the best in the area and I'd say the best I've had anywhere outside of NY and Paris! It's crusty on the outside and dense and chewy on the inside. Amazing!

One afternoon I'd been wandering around for awhile and stopped in for some coffee and a scone. What a pleasant surprise. It's really a bit of a hole in the wall. From the outside, it looks nearly abandoned and inside, it's really rather no-frills. There are booths and tables like you'd find at any sort of diner, really. The rack... More

The breads here are truly yummy but as a sit-down place there is very little to choose from. Met friends for lunch there on two occasions and all we could do was cobble together some bread and cheese, basically. They could/should certainly offer more. The coffee was pretty good, too.

As a cafe it is about the same as most. But the bread is truly exceptional. If you like bread, go there -- it's that good.

My wife and I visited Bread & Butter with a Groupon for two coffees, two pastries, and a loaf of bread. We went on a weekday afternoon and were very impressed with the location. Bread & Butter is a block over from the main street of downtown Chapel Hill, well within walking distance of the business/shopping district. They have a... More
