Cozy restaurant to order a burger Downtown Durham. Megan is an excellent waitress: friendly and quick. The burgers ate great. The only dish that needs improvement is the shrimp: the sauce is great but the shrimp was overcooked.

8/17/23 dinner: My lambburger was delicious; however, several other aspects of this dinner were not up to par for Burger Bach. We were seated promptly upon arrival. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The kitchen was backed up as it took over 35 minutes for...our dinner to arrive. My sweet potatoes looked burned so I requested different sweet potatoes. These took about 15 minutes to arrive (when I was almost finished with my lambburger). Our server did not come back around to check on us...so I asked a different person if someone could bring my SO a refill on his sweet tea. When our bill arrived, I saw that we were charged $5 for the replacement sweet potatoes even though they were supposed to be a $1 upcharge with my lambburger. This was fixed. Overall, while the food is good, the kitchen was slow for a Thursday night.More
The food was great and we were here last time we visited our son. This time the service was poor. The server was inattentive and did not fill our order. My sprite was served until my wife mentioned it. We asked two other servers for...ketchup and napkins and they responded immediately. I stood up a few times to see her talking at the bar while we were looking for the check. It spoiled the experience and made me sorry for leaving a good tipMore
My wife and I had a late-ish dinner here on the first Sunday of April 2023. We split a Queensland lamb burger, a side of their fries, and a miso potato salad. All were delicious. The burger was perfectly cooked, the fries are always delicious,...particularly with garlic aioli, and the potato salad was interesting and delicious. Our server was extremely nice and, even though we arrived at 7:30 and they closed at 8, we were well served. It did take a while for our meal to reach the table, but when it did, it was piping hot. Prices were good and the location was excellent for those of us staying 3 blocks away at the Hilton Garden Inn Durham Duke U and Med Center.More
They had water to the table before we could adjust to the lighting. Love that! We had the tuna appetizer, which was pretty good. Then we ordered. We shared fries - Parm with aioli sauce. I loved them and I'm no fry fan. My SO...was not taken by them. She had a mushroom onion burger, which was really good. I never ventured to lamb and am iffy about much meat anyway. I went for it because I have some eating issues and sometimes don't eat much. It had been a while since I ate a great meal because of that (and there is no shortage of good food from my kitchen). I got the lamb burger with onions and cheese and holy OMG. My SO agreed it was melt in your mouth good. I ate more that day than I had at any meal in a solid month. I will forever go back and trips to Duke will include little kid excitement to go have a meal here. Great service too but I was too busy to get her name. Thanks!!!More
Worst experience ever! How to do a negative review! Sliders burned, French fries rubbery, bloody Mary’s not properly made, ordered oysters for two people and only received for one and then told there were no more. Had to refigure what to order with an additional...20+ minute wait only to again be over cooked. Absolutely no signage outside for nonsmoking out front took a while before waitress angrily and rudely informed us to leave that it was a nonsmoking area! Last time I’ll drop $150+ in this establishment!!More
While stopping overnight in Durham, we didn’t want to eat at the chain restaurants near the interstate, so we looked up some local places and we chose Burger Bach. This isn’t just a burger place as judged by the delicious shrimp appetizers, cooked four different...ways. The French version with crostini was our choice and we loved it; we sat there trying to figure out how we can make it at home. The burgers were very good, service was great, and we are so glad we took the time to look up Burger Bach!More
The food was mediocre and it was cery overpriced. The server seemed to be very knowledgeable about the food which was nice. Probably won't eat here again, paid $30 for a plate of fries and 2 sliders.
Really great place for a Burger on 9th Street. We visited twice during our stay in Durham recently. Burgers are served with a salad - super healthy option. And, the Fries were excellent too! Many sauces for the fries! Weather was perfect for dinning outside....Great place! Great food! Will be back!!More
This very different burger experience is conveniently located near Duke University, Duke Medical facilities and near the Durham Bulls stadium. There is plenty of parking. Our server “G” gave us excellent service, beginning with bringing us a bottle of water for the table. The food...at Burger Bach (pronounced “batch”) includes a variety of burgers. Hand cut fries are served with a selection of dipping sauces. The bill is more than at a fast food place, but well worth the price. Note: Burger Bach does not take reservations so you may want to go early on weekend evenings.More
Family out for afternoon meal. Greeted promptly, seated promptly. Kid high chair did not have locking strap - on the 2 chairs they had- tough for 2 year old. Good option on beers- true lamb burgers - flavorful, beef burgers good too. Like sharing fries...with multiple dipping sauces. Overall very good - would go backMore
We are in town for. Duke basketball game and one of the alumni band members recommended this place to us. We are sooo glad he did! Holy smokes! The lamb is delicious!!! Not gamey or tough. The dipping sauces are delicious and the salad has...a light vinaigrette that was fantastic! I had the North Lamb and my hubby had the Queens town. Just outstanding!!! Service was excellent!!!! Will definitely be back!!More
This place advertised in neon that they had an Oyster Bar. We walked in, asked to be seated at the Oyster Bar. The young man at the front was confused. He said, "We have Oysters and we have a Bar." He seated us at a...table and the waitress asked what the problem was. Expecting someone a bit more knowledgeable, but she said the same thing. Both were young and clueless, even after we had explained to each of them what an Oyster Bar was. We looked briefly at the menu where we found Oysters to be $3.00 each with no mention of shucking service. We left without eating. Anyone working in food service that is that ignorant of the meaning of a large neon sign in their window that says "Oyster Bar", probably isn't ok to prepare, cook or serve food.More
During our recent visit, there was no wait for a table, probably because we arrived at 11:00 just as they were opening. The atmosphere was relaxed and unassuming. Our server, Jeremiah T, was pleasant and helpful with our order. Both the Black Bean Taco Burger...and the Plain Burger with Gruyere cheese and sautéed mushrooms were rather large and quite good. My cousin and I enjoyed the mixed greens that came as a side. We also ordered fries, which were plentiful and good. I will definitely eat here again upon my return to Durham.More
The service was excellent and the best burgers we have ever eaten and the greens that they serve with the burgers were delicious! The atmosphere is very casual.
