Great for weeknight dinner, special occasions, and business meals. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere. Just had the catch of the day prepared by the new chef and it was amazing! And the craft cocktails are fantastic!

A group of colleagues (3 in total) dined here b/c of pretty good ratings and word of mouth. We arrived at 7:45 p.m. and didn't receive our food until closer to 9:45 p.m. Our waiter was incredibly kind and kept us posted on the status...More

If you're looking for a quiet restaurant with some items/descriptions on the menu that you don't recognize, and pretty high prices, then this is the place for you. I'm not saying any of this in a negative way, it's Hickory's version of fine dining. NOT...More

Came in with a few from work. Salad was good, smoked chicken was way over brined. Breast was dried out, while the leg and thigh were bearable. One guy had the filet and enjoyed it. Other guy had the chicken sandwich which was ok. Overall,...More

We stopped here for dinner because of good reviews on TA. It was raining that night so we couldn’t sit outside (but there is a lovely deck!). Bar was busy but not too loud. Fried oysters were sweet and well prepared. Authentic southern food. Macaroni...More

I just moved to hickory from Raleigh, so I know that restaurants aren't the same, but this was ok. The hamburger wasn't cooked all the way and was super thick. If younlike that, than that's fine....but I don't. Anyway, the service was good, although we were pretty much the...More

The atmosphere is convivial and warm. The crispy oyster starter is truly delicious. We could have made a meal out of more of those. The sirloin steak was prepared as ordered but a tad on the chewy side. The shrimp and grits were tasty but...More

Description
Highland Avenue changed the culinary landscape of Hickory, North Carolina when the farm-to-table restaurant opened in 2013 and has garnered regional and national praise for locally sourced foods. On any given day, farmers and purveyors are walking through the back door, arms loaded down with produce, cheese and meats from their North Carolina farms. Highland Avenue is quickly becoming a destination for people who love good food. Located on the second floor of the beautifully renovated former Holler Hosiery Mill in the up and coming Southeast District of Hickory, Highland Avenue pays homage to the city's rich manufacturing history while focusing on New American cuisine. Appalachian trout, shrimp and grits, flatbreads, and crispy chicken sandwiches are a few of the popular items you'll find on the menu. The restaurant offers stunning, seasonal fare and provides guests with a taste of true Southern hospitality.
