My wife and I stopped here for breakfast. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was very good was prepared quickly. The portions are generous. The orange juice is squeezed when you order it. The breakfast sandwich on a biscuit was very tasty. This is not a huge place . . . A cozy atmosphere. All in all it... More

We stopped by the Café this weekend for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The Cheeseburger was cooked to perfection and made with fresh ground meat! The crab cake sandwich was out of this world and the service was outstanding! I will continue to visit this establishment every time I come to the OBX!

This is the fifth time we have stopped by The Old Nags Head Café this summer for breakfast. I can't say how much we have enjoyed all meals that we have had! The breakfast is freshly prepared and the coffee is freshly roasted. I can't wait until we come down again!

Because I work in the neighborhood, I have eaten breakfast here many times. Not once have I had a breakfast that was not outstanding. The orange juice is fresh-squeezed, the food is fresh and hot, and the coffee is flavorful. I love this place! And, the best part is that, it is rarely crowded. When Sam & Omies is jammed,... More

Overall a pleasant experience. Our sever was very nice. Would have been 5 stars but the food was VERY slow coming out. I know we arrived during a small rush, but it shouldn't take 30 minutes for an appetizer and an hour for our meal at 6:30pm. The place wasn't full, maybe 8 tables. I think that more help may... Hello and thank you for dining with us... I'm sorry if you had a "slow experience"with your meal... I'm not sure which appetizer you ordered but all of our items are prepared fresh and made to order. We pre-make nothing and our food does take a little more time. Our fresh made jumbo lump crabcakes for example are pan fried... More

Stopped one night late and got a very good hamburger. Then we returned one morning for breakfast and it was also very good.

So we got a recommendation from a local and headed over for lunch. The burgers were fantastic and we enjoyed cold beers plus fries. I loved that there was a variety of sides to choose from. I had the squash and zucchini side. Went back the next morning around 11:00 for breakfast. Great coffee that I believe they sell there,... More

My son and daughter in law ate here while they visited the outer banks and suggested we stop for breakfast. So glad we did! Food was delicious and the staff was friendly and attentive. Great location. Will be back.

Absolutely amazing! My husband and I stumbled upon this island treasure. There is ample onsite parking. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by employees and seated. Menu has a great variety of items to offer. They were gracious and accommodated my husbands dietary request and our food was served in a reasonable amount of time and was absolutely delicious. Old... The nene is relatively narrow featuring mostly shrimp. But the food is excellent. The gumbo is excellent as are the fish and chips. Portion sizes are good.

Description
Old Nags Head Cafe continues the Roderer family tradition of the great food and Outer Banks North Carolina hospitality we've been offering Nags Head restaurant diners since 1985. Housed in the historic Harris Grocery store on the beach road that served vacationers up until the late 70s, our café's easy-going, beachy atmosphere provides the perfect setting for a gathering of friends or a quiet evening. We like how one of our guests described us, "The restaurant/bar has a very neighborhood feel but is classier than your standard beach seafood shack. Lots of wood paneling and a tasteful amount of local flavor make it a great place for a low key night or casual date." We do strive to make you feel like you're a long-time local, even if it's your first visit, with our friendly servers and easy-going style. That's the way a Nags Head restaurant should be! Complementing our surroundings is a menu that's setting a standard for Nags Head restaurants. Enjoy traditional and contemporary Southern dishes as well as the best in fresh local seafood, chicken, chops, hand-cut Angus beef, pasta, soups, salads, sandwiches, daily specials and homemade desserts. We've been told you can't come to this place without experiencing fried green tomatoes or shrimp and grits! While you're dining, your view is of Nags Head's row of unpainted aristocratic cottages, summer homes that were the first to establish the Outer Banks of North Carolina as a vacation destination. You're also across from the iconic Jockey's Ridge. Old Nags Head Cafe also has a full-service bar with an extensive beer and wine list, and we're happy to accommodate your take-out order.
