My dad and I have a date once a month. We usually go to a show in Raleigh, and I look for a new restaurant for lunch, for every adventure. Today I was sure I had hit a home run with The Pit. The menu called to me, and when I shared with my dad, called to him also. I... More

I had the ribs with mac n cheese & fries. Fries were ok, the mac n cheese was good, and I've had better BBQ. The ribs didn't have much flavor. The wait staff wasn't very attentive. After our food came out the waitress seemed to forget about our table.

You can never go wrong with the Pit. Me and my co workers stopped her for lunch. I got the bbq chicken, collards and the macaroni and cheese. That mac and cheese is the best. Just prepared to feel sluggish afterwards.

Lived down here now for 4.5 years from the Northeast. Have always preferred "red sauce" barbeque. Then I went to the Pit. Insanely good. From the hush puppies which I could not get in my face fast enough, to the ribs, which were by far the best I have ever had. Seriously worth the hype...do not delay....

Enjoyed the service and the food; however at lunch this place gets loud quick. Parking is the biggest problem in coming to this restaurant especially if you are looking for a space on the street.

The chopped barbecue (contained gristle and fat), beef brisket (half fat and burned), and chicken (dry) were all just fair. The meats were not hot when they arrived. Side dishes were fair to good: collards were good, mac&cheese was fair, black-eyed peas were good, fried okra was greasy, fries were scrappy and greasy, biscuits were good, corn bread was dry.... Our family of 8 went for lunch and we were all pleased with our orders. My fried chicken was moist and crispy, the brisket melted in your mouth and the mac and cheese was the gooiest I had ever had. My son ordered a burger which was huge. The ribs were a little on the dry side. The hush puppies... More

I did review some good southern food as well as some great southern hospitality. Would definitely visit next time in Raleigh.
