Great time at Prime during the Art and Jazz event. The food choices were unbelievable, and delicious; the jazz music was live and entertaining; and the art on display gave a preview of the great talent in Rocky Mount. I'm looking forward to more events...More

I decided to visit this restaurant after reading the reviews on T.A. What an excellent decision this turned out to be. The atmosphere was relaxed with soft jazz music playing in the background. My decision to order the fried seafood platter was a hard one...More

Dear Robin, this is Chef Ed. When you called and told me that someone (???) had told you that service dogs are not permitted in my restaurant, I informed you that this is not true. And, certainly, the scores of people who have visited my...More

Stopped here on the way south for the eclipse. Easy access from 95. So glad we decided to take the extra time to go here instead of some generic place on the highway. Food was great. Service was great. Great value. Highly recommended!

Description
While we have the only "slow-smoked barbecue" in the Rocky Mount area (featuring spareribs, pulled pork, chopped beef and sliced brisket), we also feature thick hand-cut steaks, juicy burgers, and a wide variety of "fresh" seafood. Our lasagna is homemade with fresh herbs. All of our gourmet sides (orange ginger yams, collard greens, coleslaw, potato salad are made from fresh vegetables, etc.) are made in-house from fresh vegetables -- no cans or frozen! Our macaroni & cheese has been ranked in the top 10 nationally by Travel & Leisure magazine. Our desserts are also homemade, unique and delicious. The jazz-themed restaurant, situated in the neighborhood where legendary jazz pianist Thelonious Monk was born, is the brainchild of Ed Wiley III, Yalem Kiros and Harold Worrell. Ed Wiley is the son of jazz saxophone great Ed Wiley Jr.
