Decor was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu was extensive with a few specialty dishes. I had the Seafood Hot and the presentation and flavour was excellent, my partner had a Paella, while tending to be towards a risotto the...flavour was excellent. The wine list included a lot of regional wines. It was the best restaurant meal we have had in the last 12-18 months. Well doneMore

We had a anniversary celebration lunch at the Port McDonnell pub. Really great pub food, good selection of cuisine and pretty decent wine options. Good value for money.

Wow! What a change - I haven’t eaten a meal here for approximately 10 years and there has been many changes. Extensive menu to cater for all tastes, great value for money (check the specials board too), generous serves and warm country hospitality. The dessert...menu looked delicious but we were too full. Can recommend the bruschetta, chicken Al fungi, chicken snitzel with shipwreck topping, chicken parmigiana and the risotto with mushrooms.More

1 / 5, worst bistro service. Meals were basic at best to he specific a paper thin beef schnitzel tough and tasteless with a cost of $21 with sauce, chips, or vegetables an additional $3 each. Maybe speka to federal hotel in Mt Gambier and...get some points on how a schnitzel should be.More

Great food and very attentive staff. The seafood basket was very good as was my partner's chicken schnitzel (enough for two meals really). Good selection of wine to boot!

Fantastic little pub. You are made feel very welcome the moment you enter by all staff. The meal was superb. Make sure that you are hungry when you go here, we were and came out quite satisfied. In fact we didn't have anything else to...eat for the rest of the day. Definitely worth the trip over (we are from Warrnambool, about 2 1/2 hrs away.) and while you are there go have a look at Don & Sheila's museum..on lower nelson rd.More

Had not been to this place in quite a few years and was so pleased we decided for it instead of the fish and chip we ventured down to Port McDonald for. Meals are huge and service fantastic. The beef schnitzel seemed to go on...forever and was a struggle to finish. Topped with generous salad and just the right amount of chips. The wife had the fisherman's basket containing prawns, schollops and squid with a large peice of fish, salad and chips. Service was great and very friendly. Will not leave it that long again between our next visit.More

We went for a drive from Mount Gambier for lunch after a few recommendations . All I can say is food was fantastic. I've eaten in alot of hi end restaurants and this was up there with them. Everything is fresh, all the sauces are...made in house which in my opinion makes all the difference between a normal average pub meal to the next level which this was. Fantastic meal from a chef who cares about what they are doing. We will certainly be back.More

The food here was AMAZING - and cheap! The Seafood Hotpot was to die for. Not only was it great eating, it was huge and very well presented. I would recommend it to anyone. My only problem with the hotel was the selections of wine...by the glass over the main bar. "We have red.... and white...". For a hotel near wine country (Coonawarra is less than an hour away) the choices were awful. The restaurant selection was ok, but it also could have been improved by a wider choice and some top shelf selections.More

Staying down for a few days and decided it was not a night for cooking at home. Booked in for a meal for 4 and was impressed with the variety of choices available for dinner. I went for the Rump steak with Dianne sauce and...roasted veg while my wife went for the salt and pepper squid. The teenage boys went for a chicken parmigiana and a chicken schnitzel with gravy. All very impressed with the quality of their meals and friendly staff service.More

Hubby and I went here for dinner tonight and were pleasantly surprised with so many gluten free options on the menu. Nice food , friendly service and good value. Hubby had a gluten free chicken parmigiana and loved it . I chose the fisherman basket...and it was good value too . Met some friendly locals dining here too which is always a good sign . We will be back when we visit Port Macdonnell again.More
