The Purple Onion Cafe is a cozy little eatery on the main strip through Shallotte, NC. Doesn't look like much on the outside, but everything changes when the smell of fresh pastries hits you as you walk in. It's clean and comfy, the service is warm and friendly and the food is excellent. If you're hungry, go for the Big... More

I wrote a bad review of this restaurant in Jan 2017. They deserved it. BUT..............my visit the week of 4-17/4-24-17 was totally different. The food was great. The restaurant was busy. Service was good. The desert was super and we enjoyed our visit.

Wonderful breakfast. I had the Swiss omelet with home fries and rye toast. She had the veggie omelet with home fries and biscuit. Butter and jellies at the table and condiments make it complete. This place is crowded for a reason. There are women in this kitchen who know what they are doing and their customers know it too. We... More

The Purple Onion in Shallotte is a great place for breakfast, but you better go early!! It gets crowded quickly, but that's because the food is really good!! They have a full breakfast menu that's delicious, but they also have blueberry biscuits to die for!! Cinnamon buns and apple turnovers are delicious!! I'd definitely recommend it!!

The Purple Onion has been a long-time favorite in my family. Excellent breakfast offerings and the desserts are a standout! Don't miss this place but come early because they are only open for breakfast and lunch!

This place is a long time favorite. Great menu with a lot of speciality sandwiches as well as great salads. They are also a bakery so their sandwiches can be on homemade bread or wraps, The cakes, turnovers, bagels , and numerous desserts are amazing! Great sweet potato fries, and their ice tea is true southern tea! How can you... More

This is a place for standing room only in getting a seat. They were full as the people told me is standard for everyday. We enjoyed the service, the food, and the ambiance. This is a must stop if on the way to Myrtle Beach,SC or Wilmington, NC!

We ate at The Purple Onion for lunch. The food is absolutely delicious! I had a great Reuben and my husband had the chicken quesadilla. They were so good! We both got a cookie to bring home...oatmeal raisin and toffee. YUM!! Wished we had bought at least one more of each!
